Windows XP on a MAC?
Apple has formally given its thumbs-up to attempts to install and run Windows XP on Intel-based Macs. It has posted a tool called Boot Camp that allows iMac, MacBook Pro and Mac Mini owners to run the Microsoft OS more easily. The company also confirmed the next major Mac OS X release, Leopard, will integrate the twin-OS technology.

Simulator X playable demo.
After seeing so much hype
about its graphics, and the
use it will eventually make of
the upcoming DirectX 10
Application Programming
Interface, it's finally going
to be available to public in
its first playable form as

approximately 1h 25 minutes,
as of this writing.
A countdown is

news, GameSpot. GameSpot also
reports the demo will offer
the location of St. Maarten, 2
airports and 3 missions of
increasing difficulty, meaning
it's a pretty complete
demo.
UPDATE:
It's out, though don't
expect to play today. The
servers are already struggling
over the load, resulting in
extremely slow speeds.

Crysis demo un-postponed, out now
You know how the Crysis demo was supposed to be delayed until tomorrow? Well, as it turns out, Crytek and EA have decided to release the demo one day
"early," effectively un-postponing it. The demo is available on
FileShack, and it will eventually go up on Nvidia's Nzone
website, as well.
As we explained earlier, the demo includes "Contact," the first level from the full game's single-player
campaign. Crytek has also tossed in its Sandbox 2 in-game editor, giving modders a chance to sharpen their mod-sticks before the full game comes out
on November 16.

Perhaps a little too much of a reminder of the film Die Hard 4 for many readers - the BBC Technology page is reporting that the age of Cyber Warfare
may be nearly upon us, at a grander scale than was first anticipated. A report by online security experts, McAfee, bases its report conclusion opon
the analysis of recent net-based attacks and concludes that the concept of cyber war has moved from the abstract to the tangible. Specifically

Crysis Demo FUBAR
Rock-Paper-Shotgun reports that hackers have reduced the Crysis demo to
ashes. Someone discovered that a whole bunch of stuff, including lots of formerly-locked vehicles and guns, can be made available in the demo map
with a few tweaks, downloadable from the RPS link.
Whether this was an oversight on the part of the Crytek developers who created
the demo or just dumb luck is up in the air. Crytek folks didn't immediately respond to requests for comments. The dudes at Blues News helpfully point out that exploiting the demo might spoil the game for those who
plan to buy it, so hack at your own risk.

Mac Mojo: Audio/Video support in Messenger for Mac next year
One of the nifty features missing in the Messenger for Mac is Audio/Video (A/V) support. It is not possible to do a video or audio chat using the
Messenger for Mac. The recent update, Messenger for Mac 7 added A/V support for corporate services (works with Office Live Communications Server 2007)
but not for personal services(Windows Live Services). Mac Mojo, the Office for Mac team announced today that A/V support for personal services will be
available next year as an update on Messenger for Mac. Mac Mojo team said that the new release of Windows Live Messenger, which is currently in beta
delivers a new A/V protocol which makes easier to deliver A/V support in Messenger for Mac.
