Full Review: Windows Vista December CTP
Love-him-hate-him Paul Thurrot has released a four part in-depth review of Vista's December CTP. "I think people are going to be surprised by how good the Windows Vista December 2005 Community Technical Preview (CTP, or build 5270) really is.
After years of painful delays and an uncertain couple of months since the last CTP, Microsoft shipped a near-feature-complete Vista build to testers this week, and the prognosis is extremely positive. From what I can see, Vista has turned the corner. The December CTP is an exciting release, stable and full of new features. In this review, I'll examine those new features, and the features that have changed since the previous CTP, build 5231"

Perhaps a little too much of a reminder of the film Die Hard 4 for many readers - the BBC Technology page is reporting that the age of Cyber Warfare

the analysis of recent net-based attacks and concludes that the concept of cyber war has moved from the abstract to the tangible. Specifically
outlined within the report was the need to ascertain exactly what is the driving force behind the majority of cyber attacks.

PC is the kids' choice for gaming
The NPD study, Kids & Gaming, found that the faithful PC "dominates as the top system used for gaming by kids of all age groups."
The study, conducted in August, also found that the average child started using "kid-oriented" systems (think Leapster) as a toddler, eventually
moving to PC games at around age six, continuing through age 17, which is the longest term for any platform.
As kids grew older,
they "migrated" to plug-and-play systems and other "more established" systems.
"...At about age 10, cell phone gaming
begins, and the gaming lifecycle culminates with Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable, and the three next generation console systems (Xbox 360,
PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii)," NPD stated.

Over half of adults play video games
According to a survey released on Sunday by the Pew Internet & American Life Project, over half of American adults play video games of some kind. The
survey shows that age is the biggest factor, with young adults most likely to play video games and that as adults get older, game play decreases. Of
adults over the age of 65 who play video games, nearly a third play video games every day. In comparison, the survey found that only 20% of young
adults play video games every day. A persons age is also a factor in whether they play on a computer, games console or other device, such as a mobile
phone.

Ex-Google manager can sue for age bias
A 54-year-old former Google Inc. manager who claimed he was fired after a supervisor told him his opinions were "too old to matter" had his age
discrimination lawsuit reinstated.
Reversing a Santa Clara County trial judge, the state's Sixth District Court of Appeal ruled
Thursday that Brian Reid deserves to have a jury hear the evidence he amassed that he says shows Google routinely gave older managers lower
evaluations and smaller bonuses than younger managers.
"Reid produced sufficient evidence that Google's (stated) reasons for
terminating him were untrue or pretextual, and that Google acted with discriminatory motive such that a fact-finder would conclude Google engaged in
age discrimination," Presiding Justice Conrad L. Rushing wrote.

Amazon have debateably one of the best iPhone optimised websites to date, and as of today, also have an iPhone and iPod touch application available.
Along with all the usual features you'd expect from Amazon (purchasing goods, one-touch checkout, order checking), there is also something called

Amazon sold rape-simulation video game
After protests from the Belfast Telegraph, Amazon.com has stopped selling the game Rapelay, a violent and graphic visual rapist's fantasy
involving female victims of age and, apparently, under age. Rapelay is produced by long-time 3D Hentai video-game producer Illusion. The point of the
game? To rape women and (what looks very much like) a twelve-year-old girl. The backdrops for the rapes? A train carriage, a public toilet, a young
girl's bedroom (complete with large teddy bear).

You May Age Gracefully, But Will Your Data?
Today we really dont put much thought into the way we store our data. Yet people all over the country and the world save data that is important for
many reasons each day onto media that may not last the decade, much less the century.
For a lot of people, the most important
bits and bytes of data are more personal in nature. Things like digital images for our children, family and friends -- the sort of data that only 20
years ago would have been on film or a photo produced via traditional processing methods. Today we archive our photos on external hard drives, CDs and
DVDs.

The golden age of videogames
Edge magazine is notoriously parsimonious when it comes to handing out 10 out of 10 review scores for video games but in the past three issues there
have been three of them.
Halo 3, The Orange Box and Super Mario Galaxy have all been awarded one of the highest accolades in
gaming - a perfect score from Edge. And plenty of other games have been given near perfect scores also - from Bioshock to Crysis, Drake's Progress
and Call of Duty 4.
The Edge scores are just one of a number of signs that reinforce a growing feeling that videogames are
enjoying a golden age.
