When two girls, aged 10 and 12, were lost in a storm drain in South Australia last night, most people would have expected them to have called the
emergency services immediately, seeing as they had their mobile phones with them. However, that was not the case with the two lost girls. Instead of
ringing the emergency services, the two girls decided to make a Facebook status update stating that they were lost, which, luckily for them, caught
the attention of one of their male friends who called for help. The two girls were eventually rescued from the storm drain in Hackham, in the south
of Adelaide, by the fire service, according to ABC news (via TechRadar).

17.05.2008Teen Arrested For Posting Nude Pictures Of Ex On Myspace
MAY 21--Meet Alex Phillips. The Wisconsin teenager is facing felony child pornography charges for allegedly posting naked photos of his 16-year-old
ex-girlfriend on his MySpace page.
When contacted by police about the two images, Phillips, 17, balked at removing the pictures of the
girl. Warned that he could face jail for publishing images of the minor, Phillips told an investigator, "F*** that, I am keeping them up," according
to a criminal complaint filed yesterday in Lacrosse County Circuit Court. Phillips told cops that he posted the photos last week "because he was
venting." The cell phone camera photos had been taken by the girl, who provided them to Phillips.
Along with posting the photos, Phillips
added explicit captions like, "Yo, U see how big her hole is! Its from me!" While claiming that his goal was not to harm the girl, Phillips
acknowledged that, "he probably should not have done this," according to the May 20 court filing. Along with the child porn count, Phillips was
charged with defamation and sexual exploitation of a child.

22.05.2008Domain name '.eu' open for
business
BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP)
-- The European Union planted
its flag in cyberspace
Wednesday when the ".eu"
Internet domain name opened
for
business.
Until now, Europeans had to
choose between a national
domain such as ".fr" for
France or a global one like
".com," which is often seen
as American.
EU
Information Society
Commissioner Viviane Reding
said she expected several
hundred thousand sign-ups for
".eu" in the first few days.
National registries in some
countries -- such as Belgium,
home to the EU headquarters in
Brussels -- are offering
promotions to persuade
Internet users to stay
local.
But do
Europeans want a ".eu"
domain name? Some business
groups are uncertain how
popular it will be. Europeans
have an EU flag, an EU
passport and an EU anthem but
many have a lukewarm attitude
to European integration -- as
French and Dutch "no" votes
to a new constitution showed
this year...

06.01.2008Man Sentenced to 110 Years for Hacking and Extortion
A North Carolina man last week was sentenced to 110 years in prison after admitting that he and a co-conspirator hacked into computers used by young
girls and used illicitly gained data to blackmail them.
Ivory D. Dickerson, 33, a civil engineer, admitted that he conspired with
the other person to send emails or instant messages to underage girls as part of a scheme to trick them into opening a file containing the Bifrost
trojan horse. The malware would give Dickerson and his co-conspirator control over the victim's computer, and they tried to use hacked information to
coerce the girls into creating and then electronically sending them lurid photos of themselves, prosecutors said.
