05.09.2009First Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Review
I'm pretty sure this
is the first online review of
Twilight Princess, but feel
free to tell me if I'm wrong
on this one.
Gamespy's Bryn Williams
had the privilege of playing
through about 35 hours of
Twilight Princess in
a (as he put it)
"caffeine-fueled anarchy"
rampage, and then tells us how
he thinks of the game. I
wonder if he liked the game or
not? Here is a small portion
of the review:
So
essentially, what you're
playing is a port of the
GameCube version of Twilight
Princess that's been retooled
for the Wii. The biggest
difference is of course the
addition of the new
motion-sensitive control
scheme. I'm happy to report
that the Wii Remote and the
Nunchuk do an incredibly
admirable job of making the
game a lot of fun to play. In
fact, I'd go as far as to say
that this is a preferable
method of controlling the game
than a regular joypad.
Movement, exploration and
combat are highly accurate and
if you fail or die, it's not
the system's fault, but
rather your own. I know this
has been the biggest concern
for many Zelda lovers and
gamers in general, but I
can't overstate this enough
-- the Wii makes for a superb
Zelda gaming
experience.
Twilight Princess is
a great-looking game. On one
hand, it has its graphical
problems stemming from the
GameCube development cycle
(blurry textures,
comparatively low-res
characters, etc.), but the
artistic direction more than
makes up for these issues. I
ended up playing through about
75 percent of the game using
the standard composite cables
that ship with the Wii, until
I managed to snag some
component cables towards the
end. The difference in
quality, clarity and imagery
between the quite frankly
subpar composite signal and
the sexy 480p component signal
was night and day. A sharper,
more vibrant image enhanced
the game experience
significantly, so if you have
the means, I highly recommend
using component
input.
Needless to say Mr.
Williams enjoyed the game.
According to him Twilight
Princess is an absolute
classic that pays homage to
Ocarina of Time and to the
entire Zelda legacy. I guess
the Nintendo Wii really does
have its first killer app
eh?

14.11.2006Halo 3's Master Chief Invades Tussauds' Vegas Museum
Note to Elvis, Princess Diana, and Britney Spears: Take cover!
Master Chief, the plasma-ray packing protagonist in
Microsoft's forthcoming Halo 3 videogame, will stand alongside the other celebrities in Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Las Vegas.
The "life-sized" figure of Master Chief was unveiled at a ceremony at the famed museum on the Strip last week. The wax version of the futuristic
soldier stands an impressive 7-foot, 2-inches tall. That beats by an inch what was until now the museum's tallest resident -- a statue of NBA star
Shaquille O'Neal.
Master Chief is the first videogame character to be enshrined in a wax museum, according to Tussauds
officials.
The event is the latest indication that Halo 3, set to debut on September 25th for the Xbox 360 console, will smash
sales records for game discs. Internet retailers such as Amazon.com, Walmart.com, and BestBuy.com have taken more than a million pre-orders for the
first person shooter. ..

13.09.2007Domain name '.eu' open for

BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP)
-- The European Union planted
its flag in cyberspace
Wednesday when the ".eu"

Until now, Europeans had to

EU

National registries in some

But do
Europeans want a ".eu"

13.05.2008The EU wants to monitor everything online
Goerge Orwell would be most amused to hear about the latest development in the EU. Ten countries of the European Union have agreed to help develop
computer programs that monitor the internet and CCTV images, according to Telegraph.co.uk . Just like in the novel ,1984, the EU's project aim is
to detect any abnormal behavior on forums, peer-to-peer networks and even individual computers. The ultimate goal is to try to presage possible
conflicts or acts of terror. Philip K. Dick, the author of Minority Report, would also be very amused. Project Indect is not only an attempt to
scour the internet for strange behavior, the European Union is calling for a more unified law-enforcement system, across the European states.

24.09.2009Ten Hours Into Twilight Princess - IGN Preview
Wii.I
GN has a nice in depth
preview of the upcoming mega
smash hit The Legend of Zelda:
Twilight Princess. In
the preview, there are
spoilers so
make sure you keep that in
mind. The preview is 6 pages
long and has several
screenshots as well. Here is a
small portion of the preview
to wet your brow!
Twilight Princess
may have started as a GameCube
title, but it finished a Wii
one. There remains this
faction of gamers that refuses
to accept the possibility.
You know who you are. You
continue to argue that because
the controls were originally
designed for the GameCube pad
there is no hope for the Wii
build. You say that your arms
will get tired using the Wii
remote. You speak of mirrored
worlds and right-handed Link.
And you know what? It's all
crap. If you have the means
to buy Twilight Princess for
Wii and you still get it for
GameCube, you are a fool. And
I state that without meaning
to suggest that the GCN
iteration is flawed - it
isn't. It's an amazing swan
song for Nintendo's older
system, so if you've got no
other option you're still
golden. But that said, it's
not as good as the Wii
incarnation. In fact, were it
up to me and not Nintendo
(and in my dreams, it is),
I'd have scrapped the GCN
build altogether, forcing
everyone to exclusively buy
the Wii version. Honestly,
Nintendo gave you five good
years with GameCube; it's
time to move on. Twilight Princess
features a huge, sprawling
world - one of the biggest
I've seen in any adventure
game, and I've only witnessed
portions of the universe so
far. Link rides from Ordon
Ranch through to the Village,
takes a path into Faron
Woods, which are immense, and
eventually makes his way to
the Forest Temple. The
dungeon stretches into every
direction on multiple levels,
is drenched in monkeys (one
of whom slaps his bloated rear
end), and is sure to last most
players a couple of hours the
first time through. Nintendo
representatives have stated
that Hyrule Field is at least
five times larger than the one
in Ocarina of Time and based
on the sections of it I've
seen, I'm inclined to agree.
I think, in fact, that it
could be larger still. And
this says nothing of the many
other areas I've explored,
but am not yet allowed to
write about, including other
villages and entire provinces.
You could conceivably spend
five or more hours messing
around in Ordon Village the
first day you play the game,
and that represents about one
percent of the adventure, as
far as I can tell. Head on over to
Wii.IGN to check out the full
preview, with screenshots. But
remember, again there are
spoilers in the
preview.

10.02.2009EU Official: IP Addresses are Personal Information
IP addresses, string of numbers that identify computers on the Internet, should generally be regarded as personal information, the head of the
European Union's group of data privacy regulators said Monday. Germany's data protection commissioner, Peter Scharr, leads the EU group
preparing a report on how well the privacy policies of Internet search engines operated by Google Inc., Yahoo Inc., Microsoft Corp. and others comply
with EU privacy law. He told a European Parliament hearing on online data protection that when someone is identified by an IP, or Internet protocol,
address "then it has to be regarded as personal data." His view differs from that of Google, which insists an IP address merely identifies the
location of a computer, not who the individual user is - something strictly true but which does not recognize that many people regularly use the same
computer terminal and IP address.
