Microsoft to contest "unjustified" EU move
Microsoft said on Thursday it would contest what it called an unjustified European Commission decision to impose backdated daily fines if it fails to comply with European Union antitrust sanctions.
The U.S. software giant said it had obeyed the Commission's landmark March 2004 decision ordering it to change its business practices but the EU executive kept making new demands and the latest one went beyond the European regulator's powers.

16.05.2007Robert Anderson: I Was a Hacker for the MPAA
Promises of Hollywood fame and fortune persuaded a young hacker to betray former associates in the BitTorrent scene to Tinseltowns anti-piracy lobby,
according to the hacker.
In an exclusive interview with Wired News, gun-for-hire hacker Robert Anderson tells for the first time how the
Motion Picture Association of America promised him money and power if he provided confidential information on TorrentSpy, a popular BitTorrent search
site.
According to Anderson, the MPAA told him: "We would need somebody like you. We would give you a nice paying job, a house, a car,
anything you needed.... if you save Hollywood for us you can become rich and powerful."
In 2005, the MPAA paid Anderson $15,000
for inside information about TorrentSpy -- information at the heart of a copyright-infringement lawsuit brought by the MPAA against TorrentSpy of Los
Angeles. The material is also the subject of a wiretapping countersuit against the MPAA brought by TorrentSpys founder, Justin Bunnell, who alleges
the information was obtained illegally.

20.10.2006Domain name '.eu' open for

BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP)
-- The European Union planted

08.09.2005MySpace Cofounder Tom Anderson Was A Real Life "WarGames" Hacker in 1980s
Late last year we discovered that MySpace cofounder Tom Anderson, arguably the most popular individual on the Internet with 240+ million MySpace
friends (he is added by default to every MySpace account) was
actually 37 years old, not the 32 that he
continues to claim on his
MySpace page.
Now we’ve learned a much more colorful part of Anderson’s
history: In 1985, when he was fourteen and in high school in Escondido, California, Anderson was subject to one of the largest FBI raids in California
history after hacking into a Chase Manhattan Bank computer system and subsequently showing his friends how to do it. He was never arrested because he
was a minor, but the FBI confiscated all of his computer equipment and some newspaper accounts of the incident stated incorrectly (see image below
from a 1986 LA Times story) that he was
“convicted in federal court of computer hacking and placed on probation” (the statements
were corrected in subsequent articles). Anderson used the hacker name “Lord Flathead.”

11.12.2009MySpace asked for names of registered sex offenders
Attorneys general from eight
states want MySpace to turn
over the names of potentially
thousands of registered sex
offenders who may be members
of its popular social
networking site. In a May 14
letter to MySpace, the
attorneys general from
Connecticut, Georgia, Idaho,
Mississippi, New Hampshire,
North Carolina, Ohio, and
Pennsylvania said they are
"gravely concerned" that
sexual predators are using the
Web site to lure children to
meet them offline. They asked
MySpace to tell them how many
registered sex offenders
they've identified on the
site and what the company is
doing to remove them.
The officials also
want to know what MySpace has
done to alert its users who
have communicated with the sex
offenders as well as what the
company has done to alert law
enforcement. They gave MySpace
until May 29 to respond. The
attorneys general said they
believe that data from
Sentinel Tech Holdings, a
company working with MySpace
to identify sex offenders,
indicates that thousands of
sex offenders are MySpace
members. "MySpace is a
treasure-trove of potential
victims for child predators,"
said North Carolina Attorney
General Roy Cooper. "Sex
offenders have no business
being on this site, and we
believe MySpace has a
responsibility to get them off
the site."

posted up clips from the sponsored show on to its official YouTube channel. The clips (seen here) attempt to show off how easy and powerful the
operating system is with a Family Guy twist.
