Windows 7 Beta 1 6.1.7000.0 - 7000.0.081212-1400 Screenshot and ISO Details
Looks like the rumor that Windows 7 Beta 1 will have build version of 7000 has some truth in it, or at least the build version 6.1.7000.0 of Windows 7 does exist. Microsoft has silently made available download of Windows 7 Beta 1 DVD ISO image to selected people, independent of the Windows 7 beta participation invite.

27.12.2008Windows 7 Beta 1 Review
Adrian Kingsley-Hughes: I've now had my hands on Windows 7 beta 1 build 6.1.7000.0.081212-1400 (the build that is widely expected to be made
available to beta testers by Microsoft early in January) and have had some time to compose my thoughts and feelings about this latest release...

28.12.2008Windows 7 Beta 1 Vs Windows Vista Vs Windows XP
After Windows 7 beta 1 leaked, many bloggers caught hold of it very soon and started testing/using Windows 7. We saw Ed Bott from ZDnet reporting
about the changes in the Windows 7 beta 1 license agreement. Adrian Kingsley-Hughes from ZDnet has benchmarked Windows 7 with its successors Windows
Vista and Windows XP. The Windows 7 build 6.1.7000.0.081212-1400 was considered for testing. Since its 32bit, it was tested against 32bit versions of
Windows Vista SP1 and Windows XP SP3.

03.01.2009Some testers expecting an early Windows 7 Beta 1 present
Theres talk that Microsoft has signed off internally on the Beta 1 Windows 7 bits. Word is the build number of what goes out to testers will be
6.1.7000.0.081212-1400.
What do all those digits mean? And when will testers actually get their hands on the code?
Windows power users and long-time beta testers probably need no explanation, but the rest of us undoubtedly could stand some schooling. Heres
how it works...

18.12.2008New Windows 7 beta released to select testers
Today, Microsoft released its first wave of invitations for the Windows 7 beta test. The invitations were only sent to a small, select group of
'technical beta' testers. In the email sent to invited testers, Microsoft states that the beta is not available for download right away. A
reliable Russian website (demo:demo) has claimed that the beta Microsoft will upload is build 7000.0.081212-1400, built December 12th. They also claim
the build will be made available to testers within the next 48 hours. In the email, Microsoft also mentioned their website where it has placed a
wealth of information about Windows 7 and mentions the beta. This will likely be updated in the future.

17.12.2008Windows 7: Not only faster than Vista, XP too
Instead of using benchmarking programs, Adrian Kingsley-Hughes from ZDNet put together 23 real-world scenarios to see which operating system would be
the quickest to complete all of the tasks.
He tested the 32-bit versions of Windows 7 build 6.1.7000.0.081212-1400, Windows Vista SP1,
and Windows XP SP3. Two separate test machines were used:
An AMD Phenom 9700 2.4GHz system fitted with an ATI Radeon 3850 and 4GB of RAM
An Intel Pentium Dual Core E2200 2.2GHz fitted with an NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS and 1GB of RAM
Neither of these computers is top of the
line, but Windows 7 managed to outperform both Vista and XP on both. Kingsley gave a 1 to the operating system that finished each test first, a 2 for
second place, and a 3 for third. Windows 7 scored 25 points on both systems, placing first in 21 tests, and second in two other ones. On the AMD
system, XP scored 61 points and Vista scored 52, while on the Intel system, XP scored 56 points and Vista scored 57.

09.01.2009Windows 7 "Pre-Beta" Build 7004
Doug Holland:
Scott Wylie, Microsoft's New Zealand Director of Development and Platform Strategy,
wrote today on his blog about his experience installing a pre-beta build of
Windows 7 on his home laptop.
It is interesting to note that the pre-beta build of
Windows 7 installed on his home laptop seems to be build 7004,
which if the term "pre-beta" is accurate would indicate that
Windows 7 beta one will be some build number higher than 7004. On the blogosphere the general consensus has been that beta one
would be build 7000.0.081212-1400 which the following screen shot from Scott's laptop could indicate is inaccurate.

19.05.2007Review: Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 7000
In the market for a new wireless keyboard and mouse, looking to upgrade from my Microsoft Digital Pro Keyboard, I took a lot at Microsoft's
Wireless Laser Desktop 7000. Keyboard and mouse response peripherals are important to all communication between the user and their computer, hoping
that Microsoft got it right after mixed reviews on previous keyboard / mouse combos. The Keyboard: The keyboard has the Comfort Curve design
keyboard that has a slight bend in the keys to make the feel of typing more comfortable to the user. The keyboard has a small 6 degree bend in the
design to help improve typing from the average angle of a users shoulder to keyboard.

31.01.2009Apple approves nearly 1400 Apps in one day
It's no secret that Apple's App store has been a huge success for Apple. It has helped to propel the iPhone to the de facto stature that it
is today. Last Friday (9/18/09) Apple approved a massive 1394 apps for its store, according to Appshopper.com. The massive amount of applications
that Apple is approving clearly shows how popular the platform is and that Apple clearly has a hit on its hand. A quick look at the graph (posted
below) shows that Apple on average approvers roughly 400 apps a day. The immense volume also shows how Apple must stay on top of the organization
of the App Store.

22.09.2009Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 7000 Review
In four words, Microsoft describes their latest desktop mouse as comfortable, wireless, rechargeable, and extraordinary. Has Microsoft ever been
wrong?
Even the editors at ExtremeTech who prefer the horsepower of gaming mice couldn't help but humble themselves and like this
desktop rodent. They attribute much of the 7000's success to its comfortable design and long feature set (buttons, software hacks, etc.). Sadly,
the mouse is for righties only, so southpaws will still have to stick with their symmetrical mouse in the meantime.

09.01.2009NY family has to pay the RIAA $7,000 after court case
The most loved organization in the world, the RIAA, has won a case against a New York family for illegally downloading music. The case was originally
filed against Patricia Santangelo, 46, a mother of five, who resides in Wappingers Falls, N.Y but was later dropped and re-filled against her two
sons. Rather than taking the settlement agreement the two sons and mother decided to fight the RIAA and nearly $15,000 was raised by online
sympathizers to help fight the industry. The result, nearly 4 years later, is that the family will have to pay $7000.00 for songs downloaded that
included "‘MMMBop' by Hanson and ‘Beat It' by Michael Jackson.
