Found A Way To Activate Office 2007 Trials....

Postby sushantvirdi » Mon Feb 26, 2007 4:55 am

Yes after some researching i finally found a way to activate the trials offered by Microsoft on their Website....

Here it is.....

First of all make sure that u install Office 2007 without any Serial Number... If u have already installed it with a serial number then follow these instructions.....
Code: Select all
1. Close all Microsoft Office applications.

2. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.

3. Locate the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration

Note You may also find another subkey that resembles the following subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration\{91120000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}

4. If you find additional subkeys that reference Microsoft 12.0 registration, open each subkey, and then identify the product by the ProductName entry.
For example: ProductName=Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007

5. When you find the subkey for the product from which you want to remove the existing product license key, delete the following entries:
* DigitalProductID
* ProductID

6. Exit Registry Editor.

After u are finished with this...

1. Go to start and Click Run...

2. In the run box type... "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE12\Office Setup Controller\Proof.en"

3. You should now see a file named Proof.XML

4. Right click the file and select open with notepad.

5. After opening the file with notepad scroll down to the the bottom.

6. You should see lines like this...

7. </Feature>
<Feature Id="SetupXmlFiles" Cost="1248">
<OptionRef Id="AlwaysInstalled"/>
</Feature>

8. Just change the line AlwaysInstalled with neverInstalled retaining the quotes...

9. Save the file and u are ready to go...

10. Now just open Word and it should not ask you for any activation...

11. Make sure you do not do any kind of update...

I registered just to let everyone know that this works. I downloaded Office Standard Trial version from microsoft and after following the above instructions, I have successfully activated it.

Proof:

The "trial" thing at the top is gone and activation and expiry prompt no longer appears when you launch Office.

Make sure you follow instructions exactly as they are written. You only need to follow first set of instrustions if you inputted product key MS provided for trial version when you were installing it.

Can't you just use the keygen?
http://keznews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=9774#9774

Or does that only work with retail versions and not trials.

I don't really know. I didn't download Office Enterprise (I got the standard version), so obviously those keys don't work for me. Give it a shot though and see if it works.

Hmm as I was typing the above, I read the instructions given by that post. It appears you need to use keygen to generate a product key. The method I used was modifying xml file in proof.en folder. Both might be valid. Worth checking out.

This modification is not allowed because the selection is...

Postby MysticAura » Mon Mar 12, 2007 7:40 pm

Hi guys. I installed the trial and followed the instructions exactly. However, now, only a day later, I get this error message in every MS Office 2007 Trial Application:

"This modification is not allowed because the selection is locked."

I can't make new windows, can't edit any text, can't write anything, etc in every Trial application.

Also I cannot uninstall the software, as I get this error message:
"Setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupt or not available. Run Setup again from the original source disk or download location."

Anyone else have this similar problem???

I couldn't find product Id in the registry? I think cause It's already registered and is genuine. I've done that it says it's geuine. I was wondering if this works for sharepoint designer and visio? I couldnt find product ID for either one. Any suggestions?
