A brief guide on how to bypass Windows Genuine Advantage check on Windows XP.

It took basically 5 minutes to figure out how to bypass this check. However, Microsoft can change his server part of the check in order to block this.

it just doesnt work!

i forgot to add before clicking patch you must close windows update can you guess add this some where in the instruction number 3.

the owner of this site can you add right after where it say "...click any thing start the wga patch software then... " on the instuction 3,add this "close windows update then" since i ve made a mistake

this works really well for ms update and downloading software but although i can dl windows defender it gives me a licensing error when i try and install - any ideas??

another thing thats cool is if you validate this on the microsoft wga site this program tricks the website into thinking you having a genuine windows

yea, it works for updates, download and wga offers but it wo't work forvalidation windows in a program setup

matt is there a version of ie7 stripped of the validation check as well?

no when you validate your pc in ie7 setup it will just check for your product key. but if it sees the product keys is bad it won't let you install ie7, only for valid product key. this patch works for download product and updates from microsoft, try the follow site for non genuine windows and download iecustom.dll:

after you go to windows update and try to validate and it says you cant. just close that window and open up regedit and search legitcheckcontrol and when it finds it just delet the item on the right that says legitcheckcontrol. then press f3 to search more and delet the next one. do this about 4 time total and you can get your updates. or if your lazy then download the .dll

i cant find the dll file .......where can i find it tell me ...c:\windows or where tell me plzzzzzzzz

if you cant find legitcheckcontrol.dll. the file must be hidden because some dll files are hidden in windows!
1. the file legitcheckcontrol.dll is found under c:/windows/system 32. sometimes c:/winnt or other folder.
2. if you dont see legitcheckcontrol.dll go to the view menu in the system 32 folder and click folder options, once opened go to the view tab.
3. under "hidden files and folders" click on show hidden files and folder, then click ok.
4. if you don't see legitcheckcontrol.dll refreah the page and it should be there.


its not there because you didnt go to windows update first and have it installed. you have to try and validate first by going to windows update, which means you install legitcheckcontrol.dll. then after you try to validate close that page then search c:windows/system32 and wala.

if everyone is so worried about ther updates, you can just leave you auto update on and it will update no matter what. no need for validation/legitcheckcontrol.dll. it even says it on there site somewhere. just some fyi.

if you cant fimd it in the system32 folder this means you cant install the wga patch or rcrawler yet, you must install microsoft's wga software before doing the insruction on the top of this page. to get the wga software go to the windows update website.

i tried downloading microsoft products but it didn't alowed me, microsoft might of updated its wga software. if it works for downloading msft products please add a comment.
note: this patch still works for windows update!

i can downlaod sp2 but it wont let me install it cuz of invalid key any ideas to bypass this? does deleting the dll work?

maybe you should order the free sp2 cd. but i've never heard of an invalid key in a sp.

microsoft has recently updated it wga tool. its old version was 1.5.512.0, now its 1.5.526.0.
note you may not be able to download microsoft products and wga offers until a new crack is formed.
you can still get updates from microsoft update or windows update.

matt, what are you trying to download? also, like i said before. after the .dll is installed you can use regedit to delete some of it. read one of my other comments.

i tried all those steps and iwas the one who made the steps. i was getting a wga offer but it tells me to install wga. but msft has updated its wga tool from version 1.5.512.0 to 1.5.526.0 and i tested it on a download from d.load center and it dosent work. when you d.load a msft product doez the site ask you to download wga tool?

micorosoft has updated it wga tool from version 1.5.512.0 to 1.5.526.0. heres a place to download the new and latest wga patcher.
follow these instruction:
if you have the old wga patch verison 1.5.512.0:
go to the following site to get the newest version:

2. then open the rar file and copy the file legitcheckcontrol.dll to the system32 folder in c:\windows to replace the old legitcheckcontrol.dll file! and try to test it on msft download center and windows update!

note make sure you have the old wga patch installed using the instruction above this page!
this worked 100% for me!

i am not using a real copy. like i said before i deleted "some" of the .dll and i can download. just trying to share some info. using it is up to you/them.

that dosent even work! you might have a genuine windows. and im going to repeat it again i've tried your idea! and no i never had the wga real version installed and now i can d.load products from msft! because ive got the new wga patch! but thanxs for that help ok!:)

i put up my system,win xp sp2 on 03.05.2006 i make update from win update but not wga notification just high priority and microsoft maked something new because after the update is maked always have a problem with "windows explorer has generated eror and i have 2 option sent to microsoft or dont send but both choice close internet explorer or windows explorer(join on a folder on my hdd or something like that i try to say).i format the hard all and i put the system again up win xp sp2 but after the new update without wga notification ! the same problem an error is ocured and internet explorer or windows explorer will be closed if i make a choice between send or not send .help please ? !iread on internet that microsoft update few 2-3 days ago wga . now what can i do ????? i try 1.5.26.0 ...and much variation of crack ...but nothing work because is something new ...gg !

note to everybody: try not to install wga notificaion because it will nagg you to get a genuine xp, and try to come to this website at least every month or when the wga patch is'nt working to check for patch updates! good luck!

if you have never installed msft's wga software and componets, theres an easier way for skipping all the steps above this page. simply go to the windows update or msft update website click on custom, if you see soon "some software upgrade is required...." simpy click on download and install, to install wga tool. then when complete close windows update on ie. download the latest wga patch, copy and paste the follwing to the address bar:

then open the rar file, then open the system32 folder in c:\windows then copy the legitcheckcontrol.dll inside the rar file to the system32 folder to replace the one you got from windows update! and there you have it.
now go to the windows update website, msft download center and test it! its should work!

note if you have the older patch installed folloe the steps ive added prevoesly, where it says "new wga patch...."

i try to use this with my xp home sp2 dvd, and when i delete legitcheckcontrol.dll, i can't run the old wga because there is no file to patch! so i put in the dll file from the new 526 version, and it won't validate itself on the microsoft website because "it's not activated"... plz help matt.... and i still get that msg about activation within 30 days thing.

i find your site quite helpful however my problem is that, i cannot install ie 7 or media player 11 on my xp pro os, i always run in the validation problem that stops installing the programme.

if you have a windows 2000 or 2003 os. you can follow the same steps in this page to get a genuine version of win2k and win2003! if it works please leave a comment so i can make it avalible to the users who use this os! nongenuine windows xp cusosmer and still get the patcher!

*note that the patcher will not make it fully genuine, but it will give you the right to get updates from msft updates,msft downloads and wga offers if you have a nongenuine os!

for those of you who are still trying to doenload the wga patcher 1.5.512.0, you can no longer download it on the links above plz, dowbload the latest version 1.5.526.0, for making your xp/2000 or win2003 look like a genuine pc.

this is due to an emergency software that i needed to download from microsoft the windows installer 3.0 im using sp1 to old for a poor people that has no meny for buying any cd. related to xp..no other bad intensions..belive it or not.

if you have been having problems with installing ie7 beta 3, wmp 11 beta or windows defender beta 2 or other products that require wga validtaion please note that wga patcher(legitcheckcontrol.dll) can not help you bypass the wga valdition on program setups that require validation. the wga patcher can only help you get genuine products for pirated xp pc only except for xp x64 or other windows versions. to get cracks on these products(ie7, wmp11 and windows defender) please go here:
