Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversIf you waited this long to buy three licenses of Windows 7 RTM in the same package via a Microsoft special offering aimed at customers with multiple computers in a single household, then you waited too long.
As of last week, the Windows 7 Family Pack deal is no longer available to customers in the United States, at just a few weeks after the first month since the latest Windows client hit store shelves. Noting that what was essentially a limited time offer had expired, the software giant pulled the Windows 7 Family Pack offering from its Microsoft Store.
As of the end of last week, customers visiting the Windows 7 Family Pack webpage were greeted with the following message: “Thank you for your interest in Windows 7. The Windows 7 Family Pack offer has ended. Please check our other offers.”
Windows 7 was released to manufacturing on July 22nd, 2009 and was launched officially around the world on October 22nd. It was on October 22nd that the Windows 7 Family Pack special deals went live, along with the rest of offerings built around the latest iteration of Windows. Specifically, Microsoft was providing customers with a way to acquire Windows 7 for the entire family, no less than three licenses of the Home Premium SKU, at $149.99. This in the context in which a standalone upgrade license of the Windows 7 Home Premium edition comes with a price tag of just $119.99.
“The Windows 7 Family Pack is a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium that you can install on up to three PCs in your home. It includes both 32-bit and 64-bit installation discs,” Microsoft noted. “The Windows 7 Family Pack is available from October 22nd until supplies last in the US and other select markets. The estimated retail price in the US is $149.99. Actual price may vary. You can activate Windows 7 Home Premium on up to three PC’s in a household (single residential address) with the Family Pack.”
