Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversToday we got the first glimpse of one of the new upcoming DirectX 11 video cards from ATI. The Radeon HD 5870, also known by the codename name “Cypress”
Looking at the back of the card we can see it’s fully equipped with Dual DVI’s, one HDMI port and a DisplayPort.
Giving the size of this card I would have expected the fan to be significantly larger than what we see here. However, since this card is still awaiting release, this may change.
The opposite side of the PCB is also completely covered with only the back plate visible.
ATI plan to release the Radeon HD 5800 Series within the next few weeks making them the first to roll out DirectX 11 based GPU’s. NVIDIA on the other hand plan to release their new line of GT300 cards by sometime next year, only then will we see how the competition is cooking up.

i really can't believ how damn large these new video cards are getting. in this day and
age where every other componant keeps getting smaller video cards just keep gettin bigger.
the fans they put on most new models are crap also. had three in a row make grating
noises fresh out of the box...then found an excellent gigabyte card that had no fan fan,
but a giant heatsink/coil/radiator system. best card i've bought to date.
skully: have same , got 2 19db 120 fans blowing on it for 35-40c temp playing blu ray and
hd movies
ya ... got an xfx 8800gt and it came like most 8800gt's with a noisy fan that did a
lousy job of cooling. i purchased an aftermarket heatsink for $30 and that was silent and
dropped my temps by 20 degrees celsius (when under load) !!
now ... the
heatsink was so big i swear was a rad out of a 1960's vw bug. but it has been working
great!!
