Minimem - Optimizing Windows Memory Usage

section: download, for your questions: KezNews forum, 24.8.2009

Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated drivers

Running too many applications can cause computer performance to slow down or even crashed.

Most of the times you need to identify and close applications that consume a lot of memory usage or reboot computer in order to solve the performance issue. Instead of taking action only when you encounter the slowdown issue, now there is a utility, named as Minimem that is able to proactively optimizes processes by reducing memory usage running in background.

Minimem is a free utility that is originally designed to reduce memory usage caused by Firefox only, but now it has been enhanced to optimize memory usage for any other applications by staying at system tray and running silently in the background. You can configure to optimize as many processes as you preferred and at the same time, it provides you some options to configure the interval to optimize memory regularly, do not optimize if overall RAM available is more than the specific memory usage as well as do not optimize the foreground process. Once processes are selected to be optimized, it will optimize memory by removing as many of non-necessary pages as possible on every interval in order to ensure low CPU usage at all times. These removed pages will only be loaded back whenever there are needed to further optimize the overall system by fully-utilizing the memory usage.

Minimem version 1.3 by minimem.kerkia.net has a user-friendly GUI and doesn’t require any special skill to operate, it is tested and confirmed running well on Windows XP 32 bits SP3 and should support all Windows versions. The only pre-requisite to run Minimem is you must have .Net Framework 2.0 installed on your computer.

Memory Mangers on Windows?

By Cyteck on 25.08.2009 - 12:08
ime memory mangers of this kind are generally a waste of time & effort. because anyone who knows windows os in any depth will know that the default memory manager is extremely good at its job and that you wont gain anything from installing yet another program, a program that itself consumes memory so its not a very helpful approach. adding more physical ram, or tweaking systems services or tuning the page file are more immediately productive methods imo.

i have 4gb ram in my machine, do i need to install minimem?

what you mean this isn't a valid comment?

By duh on 26.08.2009 - 02:08
so we need a useless memory using tool(.net) to run something only for a noob. and being a noob you don't know what this is or if you need it.

well modern operating systems like vista and windows 7 load your ram to the hilt by caching unused apps you might use so when you click them they instantly run!

now that's what i call good use of ram designed to slow everything down!

Cleanmem

By dlonra on 26.08.2009 - 12:08
i use cleanmem. it cleanes the memorycache every 15 minutes as a scheduled task.

why would you cache memory for a program that you will not use for the days ahead ?

how about NO

By ZERO on 27.08.2009 - 01:08
like the person above me said...why install a program thats gonna use memory to clear your memory? kinda backwards there.

more memory and some service tweaking is a better choice

By vvtunes on 31.08.2009 - 16:08
modern oss don't usually need memory tweaking utilities. i have a 4g ram machine w/ win 7, page file disabled (!), superfetched inactive and a lot of services tweaked to disabled/manual. memory footprint is normally 700~800 mb when no apps are open.
