Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversHTC latest masterpieces, HTC Hero, packs with the most coveted features in the modern mobile world, including powered by Google’s famous Android operating system.
However, many user who are running Windows 7 (either 64-bit or the 32-bit version) are having some trouble sync-ing their Hero to their computer, as the driver is not installed properly in Windows 7. This seems to be a common problem. Luckily there is workaround and alternative sync method, by following guide below.
In order to get HTC Hero synchronizes with Windows 7 computer:
- Download latest specialized sync tool from HTC, namely HTC Sync 2.04 from HTC: HTCsync.zip
- Install the downloaded program on the computer. At this moment, your computer still unable to recognize the HTC Hero.
- Manually update the HTC drivers from Windows 7, using the Windows Vista drivers by installing HTC Sync software on a machine running Windows Vista and then copying the drivers (namely androidusb.cat, androidusb.inf, androidusb.sys, htcrndis.cat, htcrndis.inf and WdfCoInstaller01007.dll in HTC Drivers folder) over to the Windows 7 machine.
Alternatively, download pre-downloaded HTC Hero drivers packaged in ZIP format:
HTC Hero driver for 32-bit Windows 7: HTC_Driver_32.zip
HTC Hero driver for 64-bit Windows 7: HTC_Driver_64.zip
- Extract the driver into a folder. For example, %SystemDrive%:\Program Files (x86)\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Vista_x64 (for the Windows 7 64-bit) or %SystemDrive%:\Program Files (x86)\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Vista_x86 (for the Windows 7 32-bit) accordingly.
- Go to Devices
4) Update the driver (accessible from Properties -> Hardware tab) for incorrectly installed Android Phone from the Devices and Printers menu in Windows’ Start Menu, by selecting the copied driver location. If no ADB driver been installed yet, just install the driver directly by right click on the .INF file and select Install.
- The HTC Hero phone should now displayed as “My HTC”, and will be able to sync with Windows 7.

windows 7 is nothing but an improved vista. and that is it's doom!
so its vista all souped up? so what it still out performs all the other os's out there.
they have built it on top of xp, but no!!!! they had to choose the vista failure as the
base for the new windows 7!!!
what a poor decision. the effects of this poor
decision will be long lasting...
you'll seee...
i remember the good old days when xp was bad and windows 95 was good. sounds familiar?
that's what's happening right now with xp and vista.
more than two years
after vista's release and xp still has 70% market share!
and most of the vista
users are forced!!! simply because their new computer came pre-installed with vista.
get real, the facts show it all » vista = complete disaster!
and as to
seven, the future will tell...
"faceyourfears" you are stupid :)
i had problems when i tried to upgrade to htc sync 2.0.4 - the phone just couldn’t see my
pc.
i found that i had to uninstall not only htc sync but also the htc driver
that accompanies it. i then reinstalled the original htc sync 2.0.2 which comes with (in)
the phone and was able to sync again.
perhaps if one removed both sync and the
driver and started afresh with 2.0.4 it might work? having wasted hours trying to get out
of this i’m not about to go meddling again - just pleased that 2.0.2 works again!
hope this helps someone!
i had problems getting my htc hero to sync with my xp machine. when i plugged it in the
first time it worked but after that, although htc sync would come up in the notifications
it wouldn't find my pc.
i fixed it by going to control
panel»system»hardware»device manager»android usb devices»my htc - right click and update
driver. then "no not this time" » "install from a specific location" » "don't
search. i will choose the driver to install." » then click next.
after a
restart it works again. i guess that every time i want to sync i'm going to have to do
this which is a little annoying but i reckon they'll release a fix soon enough.
your trick is very interresting, but not very easy; are you aware of something more
simple? do you known when htc will release the fix?
is there another link to get those drivers ( htc_driver_32.zip) ?
