Will The Redmond Pipes Finally Be Fixed For Windows 8?

Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversAt this point in time, not much is known about Windows “8”, as it’s currently referred to. Some are beginning to speculate that Windows 8 will be a “major release”, in a sense that it will have much more features over its predecessor, perhaps in a similar fashion as, dare I say it, Windows Longhorn.
If this indeed is the case, will Microsoft be a lot tougher on partners and employees that leak confidential documents and builds? Looking back on Vista, one of the things that contributed to the PR disaster was the fact that Microsoft failed to deliver much of the exciting things found in Longhorn; people were so disappointed by this, that some in the Windows community even tried to bring Longhorn back from the dead with projects such as Longhorn Reloaded. If Windows 8 will have new features implemented in the development builds that are as new and exciting as what was found in Longhorn it’s likely that they might work harder towards keeping these builds where they belong.
It’s pretty impossible to do this though—I’d bet everything I own that at least a few Windows 8 builds will leak. I mean it’s a given fact of life: the sky is blue, humans need food and water to live, and Windows builds leak. As this is the case, perhaps what they will do is face this fact and throw the biggest and more exciting/important features under the rug, locking them away in a similar fashion to how the superbar and Aero improvements in earlier 7 builds was hidden (maybe they’ll improve on it though, Rafael did manage to unlock all the tasty bits in 6801 and in some of these earlier builds).
Even if Windows 8 doesn’t turn out to be a glorious feature-rich release filled with new and improved goodness, it’s a given that they’ll have some sort of protective measures to make life more difficult for Rafael and the community as a whole.

nice rit. onward thru the fog. let's call it windows 7xp. now if i can stop hiding the
dos!
well, considering how polished and stable windows 7 is, they can easily keep it on the
market for as long as xp. so, even if talking, speculating, about what or how will be
windows 8 is a bit far fetched; it's possible that it will have many more features.
don't forget that vista was the os supposed be "feature rich" compared to xp, and
don't forget how bad it turned out to be.
"microsoft failed to deliver much
of the exciting things found in longhorn; people were so disappointed by this"
winfs is long dead and cut in pieces, which are now part of this or that microsoft
software. even if it's a little early to speak about windows 8, i wouldn't put too much
hope in a sparkling brand new filesystem for windows 8.
what happened to longhorn??? would have beaten win7 any day.
winfs isnt dead still found in 7 highly its called libarys, longhorn will make a
comeback, remeber windows blackcomb is windows 7 , windows 8 will be the last of this
plateform, after 8 comes cloud, then quteum computing, you guys dont read much do you,
please google you would already know this
you guys don't read much history. cloud computing has been here since the 1970's, it
was called mainframe computing. it is unreliable as you need network connectivity. it's
not going to work great for mobile devices! and your all forgetting about what pc's can
do.
so basically you wish me to believe a basic terminal can run todays cuting edge
games? remote rendering, remote everything over the network? omg why not just dig out your
p133 from the cupboard, it shall be a lot faster with the old matrox millenium graphics
card in it and voodoo2 card ;)
the point about cloud computing is, it gives power to
someone to be able to snoop on evrything you do. want moire details go do your own
research into google and it's pentagon and other us government contracts etc ;) btw,
that's where they make most of there money...
god, todays generation is so
gullible. they shall eat up whatever is shoved down there throats and accept it, just to
be in the i'm too cool crew. the icrap stuff apple releases is proof of such foolishness.
longhorn is vista.. longhorn was just the codename.. like windows 7 was codenamed
vienna..
longhorn was the name given to the operating system after xp, however, microsoft removed
many of its features and then renamed it to vista. vista is like a stripped down version
of longhorn.
i tried win7, after about a hour i had enough. just give me windows explorer and control
of my files. and a windows update that actually turns off.
xp for ever
...which windows longhorn was all about. vista is only a word. the reality is much, much
worse. well, at least 7 is a decent release, it is everything that vista piece of crap
should have been.
