Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversLooks like the United Kingdom won’t be affected by the strange Windows 7 pricing scheme set in the European Union.
After much investigation thanks to CNet, it seems like full editions of Windows 7 will be offered in the UK for half of its American counterparts. It’s important to note that Amazon UK had said that the pricing on their website was “indefinite.”
On Amazon UK, a full edition of Windows 7 Home Premium costs £64 or $105 USD while the same item in the US costs $200. It also costs less than the upgrade edition in the US, which sells for $120 USD. Windows 7 Professional sells for £150 or $250 USD, which is still slightly lower than the retail price of $299 in the US.
Another major UK retailer called Play.com is selling the product at £75 or $125 USD, which is slightly more expensive than Amazon but still much lower than American prices.
These prices are for the full edition of Windows 7 in Europe that will feature a browser ballot screen. Microsoft announced earlier this month that they will no longer offer Windows 7 E in Europe.

pound is stronger than us dollar that's why it seems cheaper in the uk... :)
the pound may be stronger, but even after the currency conversion it's still cheaper in
the uk, it doesn't just seem cheaper... it is cheaper.
way to go microsoft, and you wonder why pwople pirate your software
and so it should be cheaper in the uk! we earn way less money!
when vista launched it was the same price in pounds as it was in dollars but the exchange
rate at the time was over £2 to the £ so its only fair that it our time now.
that pound price includes the 15% vat i guess too. the us price will also have 5% to 9%
more added (depending on the state) when paid for at the cash register.
this pricing change should also apply to other goods, like consoles and games.
the pre-order was £45 but it was increased to £64 the next day due to demand. this
current pre-order price is likely stock depending and once its sold its allocation the
price will rise again.
the usa pre-order upgrade price was £32, so still cheaper than
the uk
