Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversIt’s time to bust out the champagne and give a toast to Windows 7’s future success; Microsoft has officially released Windows 7 to manufacturing, the build string being 7600.16385.090713-1255, as confirmed by a Microsoft spokesperson.
The signoff was originally set to be announced on the 13th, however for some reason they were unable to meet the targeted date, possibly due to some show-stopper bug present in the OS that they wanted to iron out before the big signoff.
Here are the Windows 7 availability dates as stated on The Windows Blog:
Windows 7 will hit the shelves on October 22nd.
OEMs will get the build on Friday, July 24th.
Microsoft Partner Program Gold/Certified members will get the build via the Microsoft Partner Network on August 16th in English only, with the other languages being available on October 1st.
Microsoft Action Pack Subscribers will be able to get the RTM in English beginning August 23rd with the other launguages being released October 1st.
Businesses needing Volume Licensing who have a Software Assurance licence will get the build on August 1st, while those who do not have an SA license will be able to snag it on September 1st.
Technet/MSDN subscribers will get the build on August 6th in English only, with the other languages being released on October 6th.

milestone today with the release to manufacture of both windows 7 and windows server 2008
r2. you have told us what you wanted and we have listened, building the new features
around your feedback concentrating on the "fundamentals". the rtm code will be delivered
to our partners within the next few days. find out when you'll be able to get the rtm of
windows 7. you may also want to think about getting yourself a technet plus subscription
as the rtm will be available for subscribers on the 6th of august. thanks again for all of
those who helped us in the testing process of windows 7, what an amazing ride it's been!

http://www.sevenforums.com/news/16901-7600-16386-rtm-commercial-will-have-small-ch.html
people have been spreading it based on the fact that vista rtm was 6000.16386 and that
6000.16385 was an escrow build that did not pass their tests.
keep in mind that
the number to the right of the decimal point is completely arbitrary. it can be changed
with a simple modification to a .ini file (not sure which). this is why some hotfixes end
up changing the build string that way.
only the number to the left of the
decimal matters. it has to be divisible by 16 (6000/16=375 and 7600/16=475)
finally this day came. i got mine already so im moving up...;) nice to know they stuck
to this build.
wonder if you can upgrade from 16385 to 16386 w/o reinstalling?
wait till the oem gets their slip keys. thats when the hacking begins
i and all of my colleagues believed that 16385 was the final build..it turns out that in
fact, the 16386 does in fact exist and is said to be the build number of the "official"
rtm release. check here please.

itself as a clean installation. anybody knows why? thanks a lot.
i installed this build (home premium) and used a combination of orbit30 activator and
toolkit 1.3 to activate. dont know how i did it but it says its activated and checked
winver and show no expiry. give it a go.

fyi; you can't upgrade a rc build to the rtm so only fresh install is available. they
may have allowed you to upgrade from one beta build to another perhaps, although i'm
unsure...
besides, it's better you washed away all traces of beta product as i
wouldn't want any trace of non-rtm componenets in order to insure the best possible
reliability.
