Upgrade Coming to Windows Update

Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversCome August 2009 Microsoft will release an upgrade to its update infrastructure. The Redmond company pointed out that both the Windows Update and Microsoft Update services would be impacted by the refresh.
At the same time, the upgrade will not be limited to the infrastructure itself, but will also affect the client-side code of Windows Update and Automatic Updates. This is an integral part of the services upgrade, Microsoft explained.
“We will start this infrastructure update in late August, and it will take a couple of months to complete the rollout. Updates to the services and Windows code are required from time to time to maintain and improve service quality, reliability, and operations. The last update occurred in November of 2008,” revealed a member of the Microsoft Update team.
Following the implementation of the update users will notice that the overall settings of both Windows Update and Automatic Updates will remain unchanged. AU's look and feel will also survive with no modifications, the software giant stated. Still, the refresh is designed to introduce changes. “It will improve the user interface for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 computers running Windows Update, adding a more visible and detailed description of updates as well as improvements in how users are notified about service packs,” the MU team representative added.

i remember back in '99 some stuppid primate magazine did give an award or smth for best
supa dupa idea and msmellos did win with the wu it was such a new way and ever since i did
spent half my waiting and looking to that stuppid progress bar and it did give me assmunch
