its a old news mate ..
bring some new news next time ...
i can't find the site where i read this right now, but apparently build 7264 was also
found to contain both minor and major bugs. as a result, they scrapped it and assembled a
new rtm branch.
however, what with the marketing campaign they need to come up
with in time for oct. 22nd, july 13th is way too late for the rtm to be signed off on.
so we should expect rtm to be leaked either on june 29th or 30th with the
possibility of 1-2 interim builds being compiled this week, which of course will not be
leaked.
july 13 isn't "too late" for rtm.
i believe they've provided recent things
like 7229 to oem's so they can start getting their own stuff prepared.
and
there have already been box art things out there recently, the upgrade thing and pre-sales
about to kick in, etc.
they've got plenty of time to polish up whatever they
have right now. the best they indicated to "partners" was that they hoped to have the
rtm code to them by the last half of july.
they're perfectly on pace and are
letting a quality standard, not a deadline, decide things.
if what you're saying is true about their marketing campaign being underway, then why
mid-july? keep in mind that, although pricing is independent from the actual code, they
still have yet to publish official system req's for rtm, and the pre-sales deal is about
to kick in this week!
and why would the oem's care about code that isn't even
final yet? maybe the show-stopper bugs that they found in 7263 and 7264 would've affected
the oem's plans for their customized disk images.
yeah, the req's are out.
when the oems still testing... you guys log in directly into your hotmail account,
i didn't say the marketing campaign was already underway, at least not publicly.
i'm mainly indicating that whether or not something goes rtm doesn't hinder
whatever the marketing department is up to and why they do things.
they're
putting out ads for bing right now, and i'd expect come june 26 when the upgrade program
starts, we'll start hearing more. if they announce anything before that date, they'll
bring oem sales to a halt until it happens. they have to wait to start marketing windows 7
until upgrade eligibility is actually effective.
there's also not much point
in doing a ton of marketing when actual release is 4 months away. they can let the oem's
and places doing pre-sales worry about that stuff for now, but again, i wouldn't expect
anything until the 26th.
the official req's have been out for anyone who seeks
them.
and the oem's mainly need to start planning how to tweak things for
their own installs and what they're doing. they need something close to final -- like
they do have -- but they don't need the real thing just yet to do what they need to do.
and pricing is one of the last things for them to announce, but i'd again
expect to hear something on the 26th if pre-sales start then.
anyway, the exact
rtm date doesn't impact what happens and why with marketing right now, and it shouldn't
be holding up anything critical.
whoever designs box art doesn't need rtm to
go ahead with it, for example. they'd have enough at this stage.
pls
dont be afraid of what happend
it was a bad time but it ended good
so
what is the difference between the winmain branch and the rtm branch.? what does this
terms mean?
