Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversFedora 11, the next release of the popular Linux distribution, is now available from the Fedora website.
You can find full details of the major improvements and changes in this latest release in our previous post about the launch of Fedora 11, but to mention just a few, the release claims to have major speed improvements, boasting a 20 second startup, as well as overall speed improvements as ext4 is now used as the default file-system.
Another interesting feature is the ability to perform a minimal install, which amounts to about 500MB (at mount-point '/'), which should make this release more appealing to users running servers, or machines with older hardware. However, this does of course come at the cost of features.
In addition, the latest versions of GNOME and KDE are included with the respective versions. The release was delayed several times due to last minute issues, however it is now officially available. You can see the screenshot tour here, showing the installation process and the desktops for both GNOME and KDE.
The release is now available through BitTorrent and direct download, however, at the time of writing, not all mirrors had Fedora 11 to download, so you may be better off using torrents if you cannot find a mirror. Custom Fedora 11 spins are also available, including the Fedora Games Spin and Fedora Xfce spin.

it doesnt come with firefox on the live cd, so if you want to use it just for surfing,
forget it, with the mother******* konquerer no site is working right, and emailing....
forget it....
or shall i install firefox first , when using a live cd ?? install it
to ram. hahahah what a ******
i'm afraid linsux will be relegated to the days of os/2 as its met its match with
windows 7. sure, i'm not a fan of windows but linyux has a gui that screams 1990's gnome
gui is so bad its done by high school amateurs.
done by the 1990's huh? i'm sorry, there's more than one desktop manager in what you
call linsux and linyux then just gnome. there's also kde, xfce, and fluxbox. oh yeah,
did you know windows 7's desktop looks a lot like kde 4? which was out before windows
7...
konqueror will be no where near firefox, i'll give you that, but if you have
linux installed you can install firefox, opera, or whatever browser you perfer... just
like windows...
why is linux still trying? its been done since win2k. spackie is right, the gnome is an
antique. kde is much nicer but is still no where as functional as even xp, let alone
vista. and i have done several dell 2950 servers side by side with red hat and windows
2003 to only have the windows server be just as reliable as the red hat but faster and
easier to manage. linux will never take over the desktop from windows. but, i would
still take linux over any osx machine any day.
