Microsoft: Windows 7 is not Vista reloaded
section: windows, for your questions: KezNews forum, 16.5.2009
Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated drivers Now that we've got a rough release date of Windows 7, Microsoft making sure that Windows 7's launch will go smoothly and not be plagued with compatibility issues reports Paul Thurrott and Channel Web.
While Windows 7 could RTM at anytime, and is already compatible with most hardware and software, Microsoft wants to get as close to 100 percent compatibility as possible before the launch.
There has been pressure to release Windows 7 as quickly as possible, but Microsoft has stated that it will not succumb to this pressure.
"Many are pushing us to release the product sooner rather than later, but our focus remains on a high quality release", says Steve Sinofsky, Senior Vice President, Windows and Windows Live Engineering Group.
But Microsoft isn't the only one that is making sure that Windows 7's launch will go smoothly, Nvidia says they're not going to screw up with the Windows 7 launch either, and AMD already has Windows 7 drivers out for it's ATI Radeon product. OEMs are also starting to get ready, and Acer already has a release date of October 23rd set.

windows 7 is not vista reloaded ? its correct, its more like a vista clone with a few
tweaks. i installed windows 7 rtm 7127 on my laptop and i am dissapointed. in some points
its running slow/freezing. also i dont see much diffrence at all.
windows 7 still has bad memories of vista: poor windows explorer implementation, the
'black screen of death' when prompting for uac (screen goes black which slows down the
user exerpeince), the horrid swirling circle mouse icon, vista memory cache of apps that i
havent chosen to cache, the showdesktop icon on the other side of screen. grrr. i just
keep going back to xp for its simplicity, sorry microsoft.
have you bothered using the rc version i.e. build 7100. what you using is a leaked
version infested with trojans and virus's so no wonder its so slow.
windows 7
is faster than both xp and vista as shown on many benchmarks with the same hardware.
seriously, wtf, if ur using a shitty pc with 256mb ram and 800 mhz cpu capable of running
win98, then no wonder.
windows 7 will be a succesfull release and is extremely
stable and has never crashed on me or thousands of other users and runs extremely fast on
modern hardware
you guys above (minus will) are either completely ignorant or havent tried it at all.
windows 7 is so much faster than both vista and even faster than xp, and thats from first
hand experience. there are very few bugs if any, and its only an rc.
swirling
mouse icon? thats when things are working, and rarely happens unless u decided to have 200
background tasks running...and oh god, the show desktop has moved!? poor you...
nickky; the black screen of death behaviour can be removed with a registry setting. the
swirling circle mouse icon can easily be changed if that indicator bother you. app cache
is not a problem, it is an intelligent feature, but i suppose you are the kind of guy that
would like to flush the internal cpu cache also from time to time.
you really
have issues if you decide to return to xp on such meager arguments as yours...
my copy is from msdn and not the leaked one.....next time ask for it before you say
something.
the 'black screen of death' when prompting for uac (screen goes black which slows down
the user exerpeince),
shock horror, you can actually change that in windows 7!
have you even tried the os or are you just making crap up? go to action center & the
option is in there.
a gutted and modified vista. reverse engineering minus all the stupid crap. they could
of left that rotating blue circle out of 7 which is the same as vista's. yuck.
d amd already has windows 7 drivers out for it's ati radeon product--so says the
article. note that amd drivers only work for their newest video cards--my radeon 850--no
such luck. nvidia says theirs will work for a wide range of cards--my nvidia 8900gs is in
xp machine.
my laptop has radeon x1600 and the drivers works great. however the only driver i needed
to reinstall whas for my soundcard. the ones provided by windows 7 didnt work so i
installed the drivers from windows vista.
even if 7 is nothing more than vista plus if you are using the 7100 rc version ms let go
public instead of using a bogus copy there is a big speed difference and yes the circle is
annoying all of my vista compatible software works and no driver problems so far.
if its a cursor thats bothering u and u cant figure out how to change it, then what are u
doing even trying out windows 7? ...how does a cursor bother u that much...? pretty
shocking actually but id like someone to explain. i mean, as a 17 year old, i'd much
rather have my computer look nice, flashy, whatever... and the win7 cursor looks better
(in that sense) than xp's cursor, in fact, xp's cursors looked really dull. i just dont
get it, somebody please elaborate.
get off the bitching and moaning and come to the reality of change people, vista was a
flop, get use to it and move on to better things, windows 7 might not be perfect but its
hell of alot better than vista and xp ever were.
dude dont be a idiot, this ''so called windows 7'' is vista ! only with a few new
programs and a new theme. this should be vista ultimate for people who bought that
software for a high price.
i am really suppriced people from xp says windows 7
is cool and vista súck. in fact windows 7 is still running on the vista version (version
6.1)
64bit is good 32bit not as smooth, start menu is still lame though
michel you are so ignorant it's not even funny. if you believe, in any way, that windows
7 is vista, then you have a lot to learn about computer science. first and foremost, vista
was a fine os. nearly all crashes and problems were not only fixed long ago, but were
caused mostly by third party apps. i'm not going to pretend that vista wasn't a little
bloated and could've been optimized more, but get a couple gigs of ram for $30 and
performance will be fine. windows 7 has gone off of this and made massive amounts of
performance tweaks as well as a lot of changes to the under-side of the os itself
improving code all around, and improving compatibility a whole lot. if you don't like a
feature, learn how to disable it. uav can be disabled, the swirling mouse icon can as well
if that seriously somehow bothers you...
don't come and say things like win7 =
vista, learn something before you speak.
i guess win7 can be called the jesus of vista....all its sins are washed way.... but we
do have to admit, vista was a big disappointment
see subject.
look at the memory usage ! i use 7100. it uses a lot more memory than 7000 ! i'm afraid
of what is coming ...
7 feels a lot faster, although some tests proove
otherwise.
in general it's great. except the wifi switch in front of my
laptop. i have to use it after every reboot.
yup windows 7 is eating much memory (667mb) and i have 2 gb in my laptop. sure it will
run faster on my pc but i am not going to format it because everything on my pc is running
great. i am testing it on my laptop and so far vista whas running faster.
to
all other people who gaved bad comments. fuck your self and go back to school again for
some research about this windows 7 release.
windows vista whas in development
before xp whas released, how come they finish windows 7 in 3-4 years ??? because windows 7
use vista engine.
what's all the fuzz about vista ? the subject was driver compatibility. win7 is supposed
to become better for that matter. as to vista's speed; great after tweaking. win 7 is
hust 6.1, remember ?
michel, you're really ignorant and that in all possible ways. yes it took less time for
microsoft to make windows 7 than vista. this is for one simple reason, vista is an os
rewritten from the scratch. windows 7 isn't a vista tweaked. if it was a tweaked version,
we’d have had it in a service pack. if you really had tried windows 7 (i mean for real and
not in your delusion), you'd have immediately noticed the speed and stability increase
compared to vista. vista is crap .- nothing to add to that, even microsoft said so.
furthermore, if windows 7 was just a tweaked vista; they would have released it as a
service pack and not a new os. a good example is xp sp2 and the best they could do to make
vista better was in the sp1.
for windows 7, microsoft obviously had to take
from vista to develop an os in 3 years. however, they corrected, rewrote, optimized or
removed everything that did make vista a bloatware.
please elaborate your
arguments that windows 7 runs slower than vista, i'd really like to laugh at your lies.
installed the public rc on 3 computers including one that cannot run vista, and the one
that cannot run vista strangely runs windows 7 smoothly as if it was running xp.
you say you have a msdn subscription. wow! i’m so impressed… well, wait; i’m not
because i don’t believe you. if you really had such thing, you would have taken the time
to read tech articles released by microsoft about core changes in widows 7 compared to
vista and would be posting stupid posts like this.
how’s your mac doing? lol.
get a life homo, only homos use mac
are really all schools closed ???
grow up, guys !
i forgot to say i didnt finished my school, because i got a nice offer behind the windows
!
how did you know i am homo ? because i am using mac ? or just luck guess ?
