When Microsoft released the official beta for Windows 7 a while back, it also published a set of system requirements. These were a general overview, and it seems that they have been updated to match the Windows 7 RC recently made available.

Here are the minimum Windows 7 requirements Microsoft offered in January when it released the Beta:

* 1GHz processor (32- or 64-bit)
* 1GB of RAM
* 16 GB of available disk space
* Support for DirectX 9 graphics with 128MB of memory (for the Aero interface)

Here are the minimum Windows 7 system requirements Microsoft released on April 30 when it made available the Release Candidate to MSDN and TechNet testers:

* 1 GHz processor (32- or 64-bit)
* 1 GB of RAM (32-bit); 2 GB of RAM (64-bit)
* 16 GB of available disk space (32-bit); 20 GB of avaiable disk space (64-bit)
* DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

Note: If you are planning to run Windows XP Mode along with Windows 7, Microsoft is recommending a PC with a minimum of 2GB of memory and 15 GB of additional disk space. “In addition, Windows Virtual PC requires a PC with Intel-VT or AMD-V enabled in the CPU, as it takes advantage of the latest advancements in hardware virtualization,” according to company officials.

Min 1GB Ram for Rc

By Jatin Beniwal on 04.05.2009 - 03:05
installed rc on 845 intel board with 2.4 ghz,8 mb shared video memory and 512 of ram in total. works fine. no need of hack or crack to run on 512 mb ram system.

Even Lower Specs

By Hexagon on 04.05.2009 - 04:05
got it running on an old socket a duron applebred 1600, 32mb tnt2/m64 pci video card and 504mb of sdram (512mb less 8mb dedicated for video), no cracks or hacks or whatever.

heck, even got it running (albeit sluggishly) on a netbook running a via c7 1.00ghz cpu, 960mb ram (1024 less 64 for video) and 64mb video ram (shared), just for kicks.

Just LOL at MS specs....

i know i read somewhere that ms has already said that windows 7 'intelligently' takes advantage of available resources. this is unlike vista... if u only have 512 mb ram, it will use somewhere in the range of 300 mb of it. i ended up putting it on my father's pc a few months ago (due to ms sending that pirate key update)it is not all that slow on the pc. its an athlon xp 2000+ with the 512mb ddr ram and a fx 5500 128mb video card. i think i should also say that i just built my self a new pc, windows 7 63 bit runs perfect on it. its a phenom 2 940 be on dynamic frequency (3.0-3.6ghz)with a radeon hd 4670 1gb graphics card, and 4gb ocz platinum 1066mhz ram. its quite fast!

i think you are ok as i am running my legit copy of win7 on my super pc ibm ps/1. the cpu is an intel 80486sx at 25 mhz, 4 mb of ram,and my video is on board 512kb (almost 1 mb ! ) and for my big games storage i have a 129 mb hardrive. yours sounds more powerful than mine so you should have no probs.
