Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversJust a day after Paul Thurrott revealed 'Windows XP Mode' for Windows 7, he has come out and posted a few more interesting details about the upcoming release.
Here are the following pieces of information he revealed, which he's "pretty sure this is all new info."
"AAC/H.264/MPEG-2 support will not be provided to Windows 7 Home Basic and Starter customers. That functionality will only go out to Home Premium, Professional, and Enterprise/Ultimate users. But it looks like there will be add-ons made available (free or paid, it's not clear) to users of low-end Windows 7 versions.
Maximum RAM. All 32-bit versions of Windows 7 "support" 4 GB of RAM, of course. But if you go 64-bit, you can add up to 8 GB in Home Basic and Starter, 16 GB in Home Premium, and 192 GB in Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate.
Windows Media Player Remote Media Experience (RME) is not available in Windows 7 Home Basic or Starter. However, all versions can share media over a home network.

i pooted
its very clear that peoples will pirate the ultimate edition and nobody will bother head
with other editions, this is a marketing strategy of m$ to make more money from dumb
peoples who pay for suh systems with bugs.
i will support piracy because of m$
greedness.
i know some may have a differing opinion but i bougt windows 98 and office outright.
subsequent versions are just that, upgrades. i see no reason why i should not be entitled
to upgrades on something i have already payed well for. just my 2 cents. ms wants us to
pay again and again for something that should come through windows update.
best
wishes
i could even see paying $6.99 plus shipping for an upgrade disk if my internet was slow..
so we all have to play super geek by policy default.
are you an idiot? you expect operating systems to be a one-time fee that gets you
unlimited updates through windows update? you expect complete kernel overhauls through
patches?
please, stfu if you don't know what you're talking about.
i'll bet most of us have alredy payed one way or another for windows and office.
as a systems builder i will probably install oem windows 7 on new systems i build after
it's offical release according to customers requests but i would not install it as a
matter of fact. i myself on my computer systems and network have only just migrated in the
last few months to vista ultimate with sp1 because i only just now regard it as a stable
operating system. likewise when microsoft windows7 or whatever it's code name is finally
released i personally wont migrate to the new realease for about 12 months or until i can
get a stable platform if past experiences are any indicators on the new windows release.

yes i do lowut.
i've already payed
for windows and office. these things are upgrades.
your brainwashed.
enkde,
it's clear your an inbread and don't have a pot to piss in...
nick you obviously don't know a thing about software development costs do you?
it
costs millions to produce the next version of windows or office. it costs money to keep up
support for the millions of customers. if you have bought your copy of windows 98 and
office 97 (which i beta tested :) ) then stick with it and shut the fuk up. if you want
anything more, pay for it. let this much be known, you're a dumb fuk -no advances would
come if microsoft patched windows 98, we would be upto the stage of xp if microsoft did
what you asked them to - ignoramus dumbfck
to the guy who upgraded to vista sp1
recently - ... sp1 came out a long time ago, it took you a while to catchup didn't it ?
lol
try windows 7 on a dual boot, even the rc - you will see it kicks arse overall on every
previous windows operating system. my suggestion to you all is, get on the rc testing
program on may 5th or april 30th if you have msdn / technet / msdnaa access to the win7
rc, test out all your software / hardware, and everything else you like, and send in
reports - that way, next year, you won't be posting about how incompatible vista is with
the ancient software you hoard.
nick: that's like expecting you every year get a new car for free to replace last years
model. imagine what a car would cost, if that was the level of service you were getting.
or imagine what your win98 would have cost you, if you bought the current and all future
versions of it.
i think you are confusing it with hotfixes and service packs
(again similar to new cars often come with n years of free service and maintenance).
moroheus,
i think you mean "inbred". if you're going to insult people at
least get it right - you've just proved yourself a complete idiot
inbread :) what a gimp
i hope it's has activation hack cuase im not buying it.
teeno: not million, it cost them billions of $ for the development of windows, don't
know much about office though. they had spent billions of $ for the development of xp and
even more for vista.
while we're at it, it's "you're inbred" not "your". it's also "paid" and not
"payed"
here is something radical. sell all copies of the os at $69.99. i would bet good money
that the pirated copies would plummet and legit copies would be purchased in the
gazillions. in the end ms would make more $ and claim a very successful product due to
legit purchases. i for one would purchase my first legit os if it was around that price
point instead of $200+ for the 'pro' or 'ultimate' editions.
the success
and profit comes from the volume of sales. price it at 1/3 the price and sell 5 times as
many! it's a win-win!
if you don't have money
if you are stingy
if you poor like me
don't buy it
"the voice of reason", you speak with wisdom far beyond your years. i sit back and
laugh at the masses who are to blatantly stupid to know that what you say, is the pure
truth. i also would purchase a legit copy of windows if the price was far more reasonable.
bill gates got to be the first or second richest man on the face of the earth by charging
above and beyond what is needed. how else do you get that rich, legitimately? i think not.
and there you have it. deny it.
again, you're a complete dumbass. please leave the internet and toss your computer out
the window.
if m$ sold spyware_platform_7 for €5 i would still never pay, as they so richly deserve
to be bankrupted.
this attitude stems not from poverty, but principle.
--------------
ps: i kno,
how does that work, as i have not
seen any censorship of comments here?
hell yeah! i gonna bootleg every single m$ software until they go flat broke. then i'll
pee in their face. and finally i will install ubuntu...bwhahahaha!!!
