Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversBack in February, Neowin cited Mary-Jo Foley predicting the Windows Mobile 6.5 roadmap. The Windows Mobile Team has announced the Windows Mobile 6.5 official launch date in a blog post as May 11, 2009.
"Stephanie Ferguson, GM of Business Experiences at Microsoft's Mobile Communications Business is going to deliver the kick off launch presentation of Windows Mobile 6.5 on Monday, May 11th at 1:00PM – 2:15PM. This TechEd 2009 session focuses on one of the biggest launches in the history of Windows Mobile"
The blog post though not stressing the Windows Mobile 6.5 launch date a lot, it focusses on the TechEd 2009 Windows Mobile sessions. The blog also says there are some 'great stuff' coming out during TechEd 2009.
One thing we might expect is Microsoft opening the Windows Mobile Marketplace for Windows Mobile, which will be pre-loaded by default in all of the Windows Mobile 6.5 devices. Even though Microsoft is launching Windows Mobile 6.5 early, Windows Mobile 6.5 devices will be available only during the end of Q3 2009 (September 2009).

wm 6.5 still has a huge powermanagement problem to fix... if they don't it will destroy
all those great wanahaves.
i've been using wm6.5 on both my htc blueangel and toshiba g900. it's a very nice
improvement in gui over wm6.1, but i don't consider it as a major update and never will.
i don't understand why people want to compare wm6.5 to osx in iphoney.
it's more of
a wm6.1 with improved gui and some patch ups. the real deal is still wm7, a make or break
for m$.
power management depends on the device itself with appropriate drivers,
which m$ has very loose control over. most htc devices don't have power management
problem.
hi do you know if it would work on a hp hx2190b?
could you post link if poss,
thanx
no doubt there will be a lot of exciting new updates to windows mobile 6.5. the new apps
like internet explorer mobile, live mesh for mobile. silverlight 2 for mobile, a new
windows media player mobile and a new .net compact framework should be a lot of fun and
very welcomed.
i think one very important key for success in windows mobile in
the future will be the launch and ultimate success or failure of the windows mobile
marketplace. microsoft really needs to get this right. i also think they need to really
step up marketing efforts to entice developers to focus on creating new and innovative
applications for the windows mobile platform. i believe the user interface and
applications are the keys to long-term success for any of these mobile devices and
developers are at the core in my opinion. we have seen a shift in consumer expectations
over the last year and that will only continue to change as the bar keeps getting raised.
should be interesting as the sales numbers are tabulated and posted quarterly in this
space.
i am really looking forward to 6.5 and all it has to offer.
