Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversMicrosoft warned that testers of Windows 7 could come across data-corruption issues on various machines including computers from Lenovo and HP.
The Redmond company revealed that the problem was associated with the Beta Build 7000 of Windows 7, but said nothing about any superseding development milestones such as Windows 7 Build 7048, 7057 or the more recently leaked Build 7068. According to the software giant at fault are the Offline Files service and the Client-Side Caching (CSC) driver, which fail to play nice together. Users running Windows 7 on Lenovo T60p, on Lenovo T61p, and on HP portable machines are at risk of having their data corrupted.
“Consider the following scenario. You have a computer that is running Windows 7 Beta. The Offline Files service and the Client-Side Caching (CSC) driver are enabled on the computer. In this scenario, you may encounter a data-corruption issue. This issue affects not only the files that are made available offline in the CSC database but also other files that may reside on the hard disk. For example, when your computer comes out of hibernation, the ChkDsk.exe tool may open and report a data-corruption error,” Microsoft explained.
Both the 32-bit and the 64-bit variants of Windows 7 Beta Build 7000 were affected, the Redmond company informed. Microsoft is currently offering a hotfix designed to resolve the issue, but underlined that users had to be running Windows 7 Beta in order to apply the fix.

i did have this issue.
i have a pc, with 4 harddiks
all the datas of one of my
disks was corrupted without reason
now i understand...
i'have lost 280go of
datas :(
to the guy that claims he lost 280g of data. this is a beta op system. get a clue from
the word beta.
some people don't have more than one system...
person who lost 280gb you should have just installed it again without formatting your
hard drive and everything old would be in the folder windows.old do that next time :)
i have problems with win7068 when using bitcomet (version .70 and lastest release) during
the activation of any torrent file; many were tested. window response was activation not
possible. i received the same message in various forms of the os: all win7068, installed
over a vista os, installed over a win6057 os and a clean installation of win6068. i
ghosted back to a dependable win7057 and am waiting for the next release. i keep a
ghosted image of vista sp2 as my benchmark os. has anyone seen similar or other major
problems with windows 7068?
in win7057, when copying files from folder to folder, not always but, the loading
progress window remains after completion and when moving the original file remains in the
original folder. the loading windows can be hidden but cannot be closed until the system
is booted. and, the files being copied or moved do not response appropriately. this does
not always occur. i suspect the 'refresh' is failing. anyone else seeing this...?
i had trouble with .swf files not playing sound even in ie. have reverted back to 7057.
lenovo x60s, same probs win7 beta 7068 junked a load then just kept whacking errors up to
redmond, pity was having a good time up till then, no worries spare hdd.
