MS: Nobody Wants to Pay $500 for Apples Logo These Days

Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversSteve Ballmer, the head of Microsoft Corp., has made a rather radical prediction: sales of Apple computers were about to drop since the biggest thing Macintosh systems provide is the Apple logotype on them.
There is no secret that Mac computers cost considerably more compared to Microsoft Windows-based machines with similar hardware inside. Many believe that Macs provide fair amount of benefits for their price, but it is logical to assume that amid the global economic slump even more would consider whether those benefits actually exist and whether they are valuable.
“Apple gained about one point, but now I think the tide has really turned back the other direction. The economy is helpful. Paying an extra $500 for a computer in this environment – same piece of hardware – paying $500 more to get a logo on it? I think that's a more challenging proposition for the average person than it used to be,” said Steve Ballmer at the McGraw-Hill Companies’ 2009 Media Summit, reports TechFlash web-site.

i think we can completely ignore him. he was the very same person who said that the
iphone couldn't ever succeed. look where it's standing now.
don't get me
wrong, i'm no fanboy of apple. i do support some of microsoft's moves, but i'd
appreciate it if the ceo actually put some weight in his scoff and think before he says
such a thing.
im no big fan of microsoft, but he is right. i dont pay 5 grand for a peice of shit. i
want quality. surley apple is better. interfrence wise but microsoft is better now. after
the wga patch.
if apple reduces the price of his machines, i will go get one imediately!
steve ballmer was never considered a it man with a sharp vision in terms of market
predictions, it's really lame to read such a prediction from an it man from this caliber,
not very objective nor realistic, a couple of years ago the same man said that who would
buy an iphone and said it will fail miserably because it has no keyboard! and now see how
the iphone is being one of the most innovative phones ever made.
the thing is
people will pay that extra $500 as he claims not only of buying a hardware that is the
same as the pc rivals, but for the great os that’s running it. i would say microsoft is
fooling people with their policy on releasing operating systems. they have fooled people
and manufacturers with vista which is considered a failure release and they want to
correct it with another mistake which is widows 7, i don’t now why the consumer has to
adapt with such abuse, and licensing burden they always pull upon people, yes i would pay
those extra $500 for this “logo” on that hardware rather than paying it for os licensing
to microsoft.

apple logo? is there one on the new ipod shuttle? must be, maybe that is why customer
loyalty demands that apple fans run out and buy it--even though you cannot use a standard
after market headset on it--must buy an apple approved one . . . am not cutting down apple
products, i own an ipod nano 3g,

couldn't agree more. $500 bucks for something that has been proven and published that
it can be broken into in 20 seconds. way pay for that garbage that 90% of the world don't
use...it only makes sense to use what the masses use! like, come on...really!!! all you
whinny little mac lovers can bash m$ all you want. get a life.
