Windows 7 RTM 7600.16385.090713-1255 HERE !

How to activate Windows 7 RC build 7600, 7264, 7231 and olders

New improved Win 7 Logon screen chenger

section: windows, for your questions: KezNews forum, 19.3.2009

Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated drivers

This app will auto resize you image to fit you current screen resolution. Must be run as admin. Works great.

In previous version of Windows, user had to use third-parry tools like Tune-Up-Utilities to change the logon screen background easily. Windows 7 now supports customization of Windows 7 logon screen officially. Replacing the old logon screen is just another task like changing wallpaper (Desktop background). Thanks to withinwindows for finding out this excellent feature.

Changelog:

* Fixed major bug in calculation. I did an automated test of 100s pics. Seems to work fine now.
* Warning if not running as admin.
* Changed double click to single click.
* Opening the background folder by right clicking.
* Some error handling so you see nicer messages instead of dying with cryptic errors.

just wondering if this is your life behind a monitor or you are really that stupid. i don't pretend to offend you in any way and please accept my apologizes if you feel otherwise. it becomes really detestable when someone wants to read throughout comments and you have made use of your chatting literature to saturate the entire site of no sense comments. please, give us the privilege and move yourself to a "more friendly environment" that might go with you: yahoo chats, msn, irc chats, etc. you will be most welcome there because you seem to have a great talent when it comes to "fashion-cool typing "... seriously, you need to work harder on your personality now because you may have serious problems in your life later.

now, back to what i came here for:

i haven't seen any option in windows se7en that allows me to change the logon screen. what i did find (on the net) was the option to manually do it after rafael posted about this on his site.
more precisely, a dword value named oembackground in the hklm\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\authentication\logonui\background key is checked. its data, of boolean type, defines whether or not this behavior is turned on, i.e. 1 for enabled, 0 for disabled. this value may not exist by default, depending on your system.
...

if microsoft does not add the option as a feature in windows 7, allowing average users to change it with just few clicks, then i see all and every 3rd party application and "tweakers" out there adding this feature to their apps as a nice and usable extra. from a technical point of view i see no real advantage for this to be relevant as it does not make windows 7 more productive at all, simply more customizable.

cheers

i wish i could feel insulted with any of your posts. sadly i don't see that happening by any means. i'm not the one posting no sense comments nor making people feeling uncomfortable. the problem is that you need to grab somebody's attention and the lack of skills is killing you. that's called egocentrism. it appears that this egocentric stance towards the world is present mostly in younger children [wikipedia] which makes me believe you are a kid trying to show up a personality to others that you really don't have. grow up, be a man and eventually you might find a way to really "insult" people. so far you are insulting only yourself.

Windows 7 LogonUI Changer (MU)

By NoctheniK on 23.03.2009 - 11:03
djlegion emailed me this app, and it works perfectly!

modified by djlegion. original program was created by greenmartian (neowin)
source code is included. no malware/spyware.

this works on previous builds too.

does all this in one go:

enables/disables the registry key
resizes the selected image to your current resolution (or any other size if you tell it to)
sets it to 96dpi 24bit
finds the highest jpg compression that would still keep it below 256kb
saves it as backgrounddefault.jpg in the correct folder (and create a backup if one is already in there)
changelog(1.0.1):
fixed major bug in calculation. i did an automated test of 100s pics. seems to work fine now.
warning if not running as admin.
changed double click to single click.
opening the background folder by right clicking.
some error handling so you see nicer messages instead of dying with cryptic errors.
simple instructions:
extract windows7logonui.exe from the zip file.
run the windows 7 logonui tool as administrator by right clicking on the file and selecting "run as administrator".
double click the big box in the middle and locate a image to use as your login background
click on "apply".

Stupid is as Stupid does I guess

for all the people who cannot get this to work... meh.

scene props to the creator of the program found at: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=en2fbbyv

this works and works well under the last 2 releases of win7 (7058 & 7068).
