The latest Windows 7 build, which may be the first release candidate of Microsoft's highly-anticipated operating system, has been leaked to several file-sharing websites.

Build 7057, which had both 32- and 64-bit copies leaked, shows the end-user licensing agreement labelled with ‘Microsoft Windows 7 Operating System Release Candidate 1’.

A quick search on Mininova, one of the most popular torrent search engine on the net, revealed fourteen torrents related to the leaked build, with some crossing more than 1,000 downloads each.

Build 7000 was finalised and offered to the general public as a beta download for a few weeks in January. All builds after 7000 are attributed to release candidates of the OS.

Since the Windows 7 beta release, Microsoft revealed that twenty seven changes have been made to the release candidate.

downloaded and installed 64 bit version--all ok after i fixed desktop.ini problem at bootup. all software i loaded worked fine except symantec antivirus--this version says not compatible. it worked with ver 7048--oh well, guess tweaking of uac caused this--otherwise--all ok. note that this version activated untill march 01, 2010. :)

Builds

7060 and 7061 were used for language localization testing. build 7057 is not the rc (at least not in its current leaked form) there are to many obvious regressions from the beta build for it to be the final rc build. as it was compiled after the beta build it is a prerc build (they all are) and considering its fairly recent compile date it is likely very close to the rc, but in its current state is not.

By Stealthmode61 on 19.03.2009 - 22:03
while installing 7057 32 bit - licensing agreement specified it as rc1

No, its not

By Luthian on 19.03.2009 - 22:03
at stealthmode61

that just means that it was a rc branch build, which all of the post beta are by definition

Symantec - Endpoint Conclusion

By Morpheus on 20.03.2009 - 00:03
symantec endpoint is no longer compatible with the latest release version of windows 7. i am now using avast 4.8 pro with very good results. after doing a full scan it found several trojans and viruses scatted throughout my collection of archived programs. symantec failed to even detect them, so i'm taking a very close look at any symantec product i install in the future. i give avast! 4.8 pro a thumbs up for windows 7 x86 version 7057.

keysersoze note that fix above, and in earlier news article does not state that programdata file is a hidden file. use folder options to enable seeing this file/folder.
then follow instructions i copied and pasted from previous news article on main page.
