if you couldn't figure out how to fix it on your own, you probably shouldn't be running a beta.

i'm sorry i spelled "interesting" wrong. i am also sorry you are too stupid to check the "startup" folder when trying to remove things that start when windows does.

I'm dumb

Amatures

By ricktendo64 on 17.03.2009 - 16:03
this is not a fix, any monkey with a pc could do this...the correct way to fix this is to (re)set desktop.ini to a "hidden" "system" file and the how you do this is as follows:

in the location(s) where you find any visible desktop.ini files hold 'shift' and right click a empty space in the folder, select "open command window here" and type the following

attrib +h +s desktop.ini

desktop.ini will be hidden and restored to its proper state

is this a joke?

By jani on 17.03.2009 - 19:03
1. click on start button
2. hover/click all programs
3. right click on startup
4. choose open all users
5. delete desktop.ini

Desktop.ini

and then run the following command:

type exit to close the command prompt window.

Is it just me???

By simjo on 18.03.2009 - 20:03
just reading through this thread it occurs to me that some folk should just keep their opinions to themselves. case in point 'guy', i have no doubt that in the dim and distant past this chap didn't know how to turn a pc on and yet this very day he stands in judgement on what others should or should not be doing. for my part i am pleased to receive all information and then i can choose to use it as i see fit whether that detail it is good or bad, the point being that someone bothered to put their knowledge upfront and not just flame having contributed sfa. i didn't see guy posting up anything worth reading. still there are always the sheep...nicknowsky --- opps sorry i was being judgemental! thanks to those that have positively contributed; i'll be pleased to give the 7057 changes a go. morale...leave the attitude and the testosterone at the door!

to simjo

By Guy on 19.03.2009 - 00:03
you criticize me for stating my opinion, yet you are free to state yours? that makes sense.

there is a difference

By simjo on 19.03.2009 - 09:03
yes! but there is at least a point to my post and i trying to be positive by highlighting an issue within this forum and doing something about it! these threads are full of useless worthless comments from selfish nasty ridiculous idiots who offer nothing but insult! so why not positively contribute? the alternative you could shove your fingers up your a**e because i am bored of reading the crap that comes off your keyboard (and a number of others) that think that i care you had a bad day or that you are funny (you’re neither)! and if you will do that, i will also stop posting until i have something positive to contribute to these forums! so yes it does make sense.

what are you talking about?

By Guy on 19.03.2009 - 20:03
i didn't insult anybody in my first post. the point of a beta is to test the software and to find bugs. if the person using the beta doesn't even know how to delete things from startup, they shouldn't be running a beta.

my last word

By simjo on 19.03.2009 - 21:03
i’m not going around with you in circles. i believe i was clear and succinct in my first point, namely there was no obvious point (to me) in your opening post and these forums should be where lessons are learnt and shared and typically without the moronic comment from those who has been around the block a little longer. whether in retrospect you share my view, i presume you will be only to keen to share with me and the world in your retort. in any event, i thank you for putting across your view.

oh wait one more thing

By simjo on 19.03.2009 - 23:03
i forgot to say that i am a homo and i don't really know anything about anything. i'm sorry for being an annoying jew.

Noobs

By Mangle on 19.03.2009 - 23:03
guy, your right.. thats it..no joke...
simjo --- good point but hypocritical ,

and whats with all fagg0t talk , someone insecure?

Sorry

By Guy on 20.03.2009 - 01:03
i am a cnut for posting as you.

lolololol

By Guy on 20.03.2009 - 03:03
funny stuff.

Colour me surprised...

By MUGZ on 22.03.2009 - 06:03
i typed windows 7057 and gay into a google search to see if anyone shared my opinion about the new login and logout screen in build 7057 and somehow ended up at this page, lol. the fix to this issue is blatantly obvious, but simply because someone isn't aware doesn't mean they have no right to using the beta. i installed it on one of my pcs because i wanted to test it...my mother seen it and really liked it and asked me to install it on her pc... now, she would never have a clue of how to fix a problem like this, but she loves the super taskbar, aero peek, slideshow background, and complete transparency of windows... and i think that's reason enough for her to have the beta until i can get her the rtc. there's no reason why other people who want the beta installed on their pcs, regardless of their technological ability, can't have it as well. i also see no reason for the people who are so judgmental of others and, apparently, knew how to fix this issue to even be on this page, let alone judging and disrespecting those who found the page useful.
