Windows 7: Measuring the "superbar"

Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversOne of the new things that anyone would notice immediately in Windows 7 is the new Taskbar. Microsoft internally calls it 'Superbar'.
The Windows Taskbar has come a long way since Windows 95 was released. With the help of the Taskbar, it becomes easier to see what are the programs currently running, switching between applications and also to access your favorites using the Quick Launch.
For many, Windows 7's Superbar looks bigger than the Windows Vista's Taskbar. Long Zheng has taken steps to prove that, after all the Superbar is not that big.
Long has found that the Windows Start button is actually shrunk by about 8 pixels. Quick launch items are given more than twice the width and three times the width with Windows 7's small and large icons respectively. The application icons in the Taskbar remain the same.
Superbar is an evolved version of the Windows Vista's Taskbar and has really good features like Jump Lists, Unification, Interactive & Grouped Thumbnails, Aero Peek, Thumbnail Toolbars and Color Hot-track. It looks different, yet familiar!

my workspace is now more need, no more crowded taskbar, i really like the way the icons
are grouped
if you really don't like it go to the task bar option to make it smaller!!
if you want the old taskbar back you can right click on the superbar, goto properties,
click "use small buttons", next to "taskbar buttons" select "combine when taskbar is
full" and now you got yourself the old taskbar!
also, if you want quicklauch
back, just make a custom folder containing quicklaunch items, right click on superbar,
goto toolbars, new toolbar..., and find your quicklaunch folder
also, the
original quicklaunch resides in "c:\users\jake
siemer\appdata\roaming\microsoft\internet explorer" so you could always just point to
that as well...
why would you need the old taskbar. with the new bar just drag-n-drop the icons on it.
like macosx dock. for all the other apps there's old the "start"-menu. i finaly don't
have to cluther my desktop with all those icons.
heey dude, you could just download object dock(/stardoc) or the rocket dock from
punksoftware. both work great. so don`t bring me the crap of "my desktop is so crowded",
cause it wont have to be that way.
