Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversWindows 7 beta (or beta 1) is possibly been released in January or February 2009 which Keith Comb has even mentioned in a comment on his TechNet blog (has since been removed) that “we (Microsoft) are targeting to have the DVD’s in the materials from 1/13/2009 on”.
With the imminent arrival of Windows 7 beta 1 milestone build, any build version that is leaked or made know publicly can be of ‘beta quality’ (means can be released as beta build). Windows 7 build 6956, which is been showcased during WinHEC 2008 in Beijing recently, is one such candidate.
Here’s the torrent file to download the much anticipated Windows 7 build 6956 with all features already unlocked, unlike Windows 7 build 6801 which requires BlueBadge hack tool to unlock hidden protected features.
Torrent File for BT Network Download:
WinHEC.6956.rar (extract for torrent file) or
WinHEC.torrent or
HEC.rar.torrent (all point to same trackers)

its not working...the download i mean
might want to mention it's a vhd file...
...so you will need to use ms virtualpc to mount.
does this have expiration date?
hey i have a question... if i install it on the virtual pc then is it possible to install
a software that basically makes a image of the entire computer, then when i create a
restore cd from the image i should be able to boot the computer and it should format my
harddrive and basically put all the files on my computer as though it was the virtual
pc... shouldnt this work?
any ideas?
~josh
why not run this in vmware, install acronis true image. create an image of the virtual
pc, and then use the universal restore feature of true image to install on real hardware?
soon as my download finishes, i'll give this a try.
can't wait till beta 1
why vhd??
a chiness as made an iso he's uploading.....
when an iso is torrented of this put the link up please! thx!!
~j
its only vhd because it only supports the emulated hardware of the m$ virtual pc?
make 2 partitions in a virtual pc
install vista on 1 , and the new 7 on 2
then
boot in the vista, and make an install.wim out of the win7 partition.
even a
child can do this
china ftw!
started this in ms vitual pc gave it 1.5gigs of memory wont start up ...how much memory
does this need?
check www.aeroxp.org for installation instructions.
you need:
1) extract hec.rar, you can get a .vhd image.
2) use winmount3,
extract .vhd image to a new ntfs disk.
3) use vistabootpro, add the disk to your boot
menu.
well i downloaded it, tried running it micrsoft virtual pc. it's not a bootable disk.
tried to use windows 7 32 bit instal cd to repair the vhd to make it bootable - then it
starts to boot, and blue screen crashes. oh well...
i meant i used windows 7 32 bit, build 6801 cd to attempt to repair the vhd.
does it only work for 30 days?
i think is good to wait a rs link with a iso version....less problem for the installation
and greater security to find so working with boot from dvd.
;)
you guys are so slow. you can aleeady download the iso image for build 6956 at -
http://depositfiles.com/en/files/26qyh0q5o and i recommend using the blue badge tool -
http://www.withinwindows.com/2008/11/09/blue-badge-tool-now-available-unlocks-all-known-pr
otected-features/ although i don't know if it works with this build.and just search for
windows 7 serial to activate it. what i want to know is this a x86 or x64?
i was just wondering if anyone could answer this. how would i go about if i wanted to
upgrade from build 8601 could i keep all my files or would it be a fresh install and also
by any chance do you know when the 64 bit will be out ive heard this is 32 bit
http://www.mininova.org/tor/2070433
upgrading doesn't work apparently its for 30
days
slthough you can repair the driver issue here, why bother. at this point their are .iso
files available where you can complete a new fresh install and skip the problems found
here. search on google for "ultimate_gb1cfre_en_dvd_6956.iso" and your problems will be
taken care of, trust me......
use tokens.dat and pkeyconfig.xrm-ms from build 6801 and activate it use vista rc key
can't boot , it's shit
works great for me with a clean install from dvd. problem: 29 day activation. any clue
how to extend or . . .? thanks for any help.
i believe you can rearm 3 times.
i got it installed from the .iso file, wouldn't upgrade from 6801, though. looking good
so far, just need to figure out how to register it, the vista keys don't work like they
did with 6801.
has anyone tested with timer stopper?
im gunna get mine at the chicago pdc conference! on jan 13th!
i tried for about 8 hours to get the vhd file to work, i personally think its corrupted.
i did manage to finally get the iso image of 6956, burned and installed it. i read
somewhere that the watermark on the desktop would say it was build 6801, well it doesnt,
it does say 6956. it only says 6801 during part of the installation and after it restarts
the first time it switches to 6956.
okay this is how it goes. you do not have to use
blue badge or any other tool to unlock the new features, they work by default. everything
works that was on 6801, accept more and better. i noticed it has an auto changing
wallpaper option, you can set it to change at various times from 10 seconds to 1 day. wmp
12 is a bit different, but i must say i like it. i hope ms will fix the visualization in
the main window of wmp but it is a heck of alot better than 11 will ever be. on my test
pc, a sempron 3200+ with 1gb ram, it uses equal to or less than what wmp10 does on xp. so
the system resource issue is alot less than it is on vista. this one used less than 500 mb
with ie8 open and wmp playing mp3's, not to mention with other stuff running as well and
the wallpaper changing every 10 sec. something i must say that i am happy with is how easy
it is to turn off the uac bs. i dont believe vista will ever be as good as 7 is cause they
would have to re-code the os. but then again looks like they are doing just that with 7.
people need to figure out that vista should have never been released, but ms is greedy and
they were spending too much on longhorn so they said 'okay thats it wrap it up we are
changing the name to vista tomorrow and releasing it as pre-beta'. how stupid is that?
windows 7 is what vista should have been at the the rtm of vista in november 2006. i
personally believe people are going to be abandoning xp and vista by 2010. i am speaking
as a xp die hard user, cause vista is a resource hog with hardware requirements of 2014 or
beyond. its really alot of bs for $400. now 2 years + after vista rtm'ed, most people may
not have a problem getting pc's to run win 7, due to the fact that vista has caused
prices to come down so far as to tiger direct selling 1gb ram sticks for $10 a piece and
dual core cpu's for around $60-$100. my advice is if you havent downloaded it yet do it,
or wait for the public beta.

if you go to the link above, you'll find a page with the
torrent link to download an iso dvd, so that you can install it as you probably did with
the 6801.
i did it, it works!
upgrade will not work, but you can start the
dvd from the 6801, it will move all your previous installation to a folder called
"windows.old", actually quite a neat trick.
other thing is that the activator
patch i successfully used for 6801 will not work for this one.
however, the
6956 is more stable and it's worth it.

here is a way to use your windows 7 build 6956 for up to
120 days; by that time the official beta will be out.

i am using vista since 2years....yesterday i installed win7beta1 (a test pc) and i am
very happy and surprised. the beta1 is much more better and faster than vista
i was quite happy with the torrent iso version, until i discovered that java console and
applets both freeze windows 7.
