Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversGerman Windows Enthusiast website WinFuture.de seems to have some close friends at Microsoft.
They have posted what appears to be 3 galleries of new Windows 7 M3 Build 6801 screenshots. It is not known if this new update could possibly be the build distributed at Microsoft's Professional Developer Conference later this month. Just last month, THINKNEXT posted the first update in months of Windows 7 show casing new technologies the OS is incubating.
This looks like the weekend for Windows 7 and the screenshots are out there to prove it. The first blog to present us with screenshots of Windows 7 M1 build earlier this year, THINKNEXT updates us with new AERO enabled previews showing the improved bundled applications in Windows 7 WordPad and Paint. I personally want to share my thoughts based on the screenshots I have seen so far.
Windows 7 looks a whole lot Computer-menu1like Windows Vista, I can understand this looking at the fact that its probably not going to be a major upgrade as Vista or 2000 was. Building on the foundation of Vista it will provide a smooth transition for application/hardware developers and end users who have invested in Vista since its release in January 2007. Windows 7 M3 looks promising, why? Because of a cleaner approach I believe to the present experiences in Vista, AERO looks slicker, the Start menu is cleaner almost with a glossy look and feel that I am sure will please those who want a lighter Windows since most of today's built in Windows apps will become a part of the Windows Live Wave 3 of services. The interface, is identical in many ways, Explorers feature a lighter more silver/bluish look that is similar to Windows Live Wave 3 set of apps. So, consistency seems to be an ongoing theme that will resonate throughout this release.
If you look at the All Programs listing in Windows 7, you will now see a limited or cut down set of programs, some programs still exist like Windows DVD Maker. 7 does incorporate a few new start-programs applications that are more like essential utilities, for instance, you will now see a XPS Viewer, which once was only available through the Internet Explorer web browser. Notable is the inclusion of Accelerators for Windows, which first debuted in the soon to be released IE 8 later this year. The significance of this is not known, but I suspect an ala-Automator type experience in automating common task throughout the Windows interface without the need for any background in scripting. Apart from that is the inclusion of the Windows PowerShell version 2 which is a next generation command line interface, I personally don't know if the intention is to replace CMD but its now a part of Windows 7.

bally well done microsoft. windows 7 looks great. it looks completely different to any
other os on the market. it is sure to be bloat free and the most secure os you could use.
i've also heard that windows 7 will feed and walk your dog and put the cat out at night.
i would happily pay a thousand dollars or more for this unique os.
would have been nice to see screenshots of win 7 and not vista.
wtf do you expect, what was soo majorly different from 95 to 98, you dont usually see the
visual change untill later in development, your a looser
looks nice,a few diferences in security and looks ok.
i'd like to see how will the
icons be...like using 64bit icons or same ole 32...
why brother posting these screen shots? these pictures are using the vista os with the
structure of windows 7 running behind the scene, this shows nothing that we will
eventually see when windows 7 does come out this december in it's beta form.
i will add that these pictures date back to 2 years ago when microsoft started designing
windows 7. if they where to release the screen shots that they have today it would look
different from vista. brother------bother oops
of course it looks the same as vista. the visual style of one of the elast important
stages of developement. and these clearnly aren't vista shotts. look at the options bar
at the top of the explorer window. it's hard to see but the start menu design is
different.and the themes and security centers a re different,
a whole lot of nothing to get excited about. looks like windows 7 is going to be for the
kids that put bling before anything else also and for the unintelligent that have missed
the point of the first 2 posts.
and when it is released, you will get the same type of people bashing it as always...
with endless alphas and betas ms will ensure the same popularity as vista received.
after early builds, these people who know everything about sofeware building have already
made their verdict as to what will be included, what will work, what won't. and most of
their gripes have to do with what a very early stage looks like.
"well it
looks like vista, so surely it is just an upgrade of vista". silly twits. some of these
lame first reports could be avoided by requiring the installer to be able to spell their
own name first.
nicely summarized, skully. apparently, many of these dolts have crystal balls.
actually if you guys have been reading about this new windows you would know that ms said
its going to base its gui off of vista. ...soooo yes the new windows will look alot like
vista
you didn't think microsoft was going to just let vists go did you,
heck no give it
a new wrapper and resale it as 7.
i am fast lossing respect for microsoth.
probably force me to use linux.
i still think they should take windows xp and upgrade that and take user suggestions into
consideration when doing so. make xp dx10 compatable, make is look pretty for mom and dad
ect...
contrary to some comments here, i think 7 looks way too much like vista.
exactly wat "thearm" said.
when vista breaks its so hard to troubleshoot, it tries
to do everything automatically for you, and when it fails that its hard to manually fix
it, hopefully 7 fixes this, but still i wish they just upgraded xp all the time. a new
theme, more secure, etc. not some bubbles cool looking thing that doesn't do what the
consumer wants it to do. and this mojave thing that they did. they showed features to the
ppl getting surveyed. not everyday use for feck sake.
how many people which are saying bad words on vista tried it? and when i say try, i think
at least for one month and on good pc. i am using vista and i will never get back to xp,
and i am not amateur, i get money for repairng pcs and their oss and my customers are
happy, so i am poweruser... bye
i fully agree with you gyrxiur... i also have a stronger conf and i'm using vista...
i'd never go back to xp, even if someone would pay to me... and it's not because of
vista's look... vista is more stabile, and has some good features, search bars in
explorer are my most favourite... and vast majority of people that talk against vista
never have used it, or tried to use it with cca 512mb ram conf. it's as if you'd install
xp on 95 configuration comp. would it run as fast as nowdays hardware?? no. and same
stories were told even when xp got out... just surf some old web pages and news... it
doesn't matter if win7 would look like vista, it matters what will be beneath visual
look, and that would be interesting to read about...
looks the same as vista. i'm still with windows 95!!!! best performance!!!
vista rulez
gyrxiur, you must be in denial about all the problems that are shipped with windows
vista, i've come across countless problems with the os mostly in regards to its drivers,
compatibility and stability and even in some cases it's inability to upgrade to sp1. so,
maybe the "young small kids" are actually doing the smarter thing by staying with xp.
let's be honest here, windows 7, whatever you want to call it, isn't anything different
than what's in vista drm.
microsoft is trying to pull another trick over us,
telling us any "hype" propaganda story that it's all new stuff...
the facts
are known, vista totally is all about locking down the pc, using drm. why else is there
hdcp baked into every hdmi?
why else does it take all new hardward to run
vista, for all that extra layer of encryption used...
why are you paying for
that, which works against you?
support free open source code, which allows you
to innovate all you want and like... and best of all no activation, no wga, no oga, no
validation and no having to worry about sharing, as open source code, allows everyone to
share for free to everyone else...
and best of all, everyone gets to improve
it, without becoming dependent upon microsoft monopoly!
windows 7, is a joke!
it's just relabeled vista drm inside folks!
why else has steve ballmer said, "you all can wait for windows 7" knowing it's the
same as vista sp1...
think about that for a moment... and the best part is,
so many fools will fall for windows 7, thinking it's not vista... but the truth is, it's
is!
that's right, it's just relabeled vista!
prove me wrong if
else...
what is the total memory storage size of having to install windows 7?
the very same as vista...
what is the hardware requirements to run windows 7,
the very same as vista!
and whatdo you think the cost of purchasing windows 7
is going to be, the very same as vista before!
if it sounds like, looks like,
and talks like a vista, it is a vista!
microsoft regular post comments here!
anyone saying vista is "best" is working for
or getting paid by microsoft.
microsoft wants everyone to give up windows xp,
so they will purchase another operating system. does it matter if it's called windows 7,
8, or 9?
the same operating system you had before was doing the job. now you
pay more, and it's more limited, more regulated and censoring your tasks.
ask
yourself, are you grown up to make your own decisions, or must you obey microsoft in
making all your decisions for you...
microsoft windows 7 is going to be worse
than vista... that's beause they have already figured out more ways to lock down your
software...
ask yourself in 2001, when xp came out, did they use hdcp back
then? that high defination content protection... or i should be saying "microsoft's way
of cracking down of fair use" here...
windows 7 will address more the failures
in vista... it also allows more manufacturers to support needed hardware drivers yet to be
produced.
given how the rest of the world isn't using vista at all... 90% in
china are using xp... and they have no plans to go vista ever... but are very interested
in red flag chinese linux... you got to wonder about your american jobs, as the market
ahead isn't going to be about "windows" at all...
better start learning
skills... real abilities that matter to others...

most guys who tok abt vista being nasty and stuff like dat dnt know a gud os when dey c
one.bin using vista ultimate for close to a yr and it works perfectly.what i guess is
happening to those guys is dat some friend of their friend being a noob complains like
hell to them abt not being able to do some stuff.now this other guy not being so gud with
any os also gies arnd spreading rumours.sorry y'all, but you are all noobs.its really
disappointing and the best part-infact the icing on the cake here is i dnt get virus
attacks as i did on xp.xp shd go 12ft under and never be exhumed.
take the bitter
pill and you will live another day
gyrxiur definitely seems to be in denial about vista. i'm far from a noob - been
running pcs since dos, so have used every (i mean every) version of windows, including
windows and windows 3.1. i have given vista repeated tries and every time, i go running
back to xp, just before i shoot my computer. i am not interested in an os that thinks it
needs to do everything for me. not to mention the unbelievable bloat and it's slow as
frell!!! it sure is pretty, though. if aero ran on xp, i'd be a really happy camper,
but since it doesn't, i'll just have to settle for being a happy xper. i'm hoping that
only 7's gui is the same as vista. reduce the bloat, give me more control and i'm in.
