Microsoft made a move designed to breathe new life into the marketing strategies for the Xbox consoles, Games for Windows and Microsoft Game Studios.

With Jeff Bell departing from the Redmond giant, Microsoft has appointed Michael Delman Corporate Vice President of Global Marketing, Interactive Entertainment Business, the role formerly occupied by Bell. Delman will be responsible for the global marketing of Microsoft's entertainment division with the main focus on gaming for both Windows and Xbox.

"I couldn’t imagine a more exciting time to be joining the IEB team - we’re on the cusp of revolutionizing the gaming industry, and changing how people interact with their television and connect with others. I look forward to applying my experience in global marketing to extend the reach of our products and propel the business into the next phase of growth," Delman revealed.

Currently Corporate Vice President, Global Marketing Communications Group, Delman will assume his new position with Microsoft in August 2008. The Redmond giant is counting on Delman's over two decades experience in global marketing to push its gaming platforms and brands to a new level.

Delman has some rather big shoes to fill. Under Jeff Bell, the Interactive Entertainment Business put together the launch campaigns for "Gears of War" and "Halo 3". The marketing of the Microsoft Game Studios games will continue to evolve under the leadership of Delman, which will also have to drive the growth of Xbox and Games for Windows.

"Michael’s global experience and work in Europe is a strategic asset as the Interactive Entertainment Business gears up for the next wave of growth and audience expansion," added Don A. Mattrick, Senior Vice President, Interactive Entertainment Business, Entertainment and Devices Division. "We welcome him to the team and look forward to utilizing his expertise to take our brand to new heights."
