Microsoft Makes Its Own Vista SP1 vs. XP SP2, Leaves XP SP3 Out
section: windows, for your questions: KezNews forum, 8.5.2008
Ever since the advent of Window Vista, at the end of November 2006 for businesses and in January 2007 for the general public, Microsoft has virtually invited the comparison between the two operating systems.
In this context, it was only natural that the Vista RTM vs. XP SP2 smackdown would evolve and survive with the growth of the two operating systems. The comparison continues to be an inherent accessory of the two platforms even after the launch of the latest service packs for the two products, namely Vista SP1 and XP SP3. Michael Kleef, Microsoft IT Pro Evangelist is the author of the latest face-off between Vista and XP, using a copy of Vista SP1 and XP PS2, but ignoring XP Service Pack 3, released to manufacturing on April 21, and to the public on May 6.
Kleef's demonstration involves a copy of Windows Vista SP1 and one of XP SP2 in a scenario designed to test the two operating systems' file copying speed. Kleef copied a 600 MB ISO file in both Vista SP1 and XP SP2 running as guest operating systems in virtual machines and connected to the same server. From the get go, Vista SP1 has an advantage over XP SP2, with a difference of approximately 20 minutes between the two copying processes. The conclusion is that Vista SP1 simply handles copying more efficiently than XP SP3. The entire demonstration can be accessed via this
link.
"It's interesting that people seem to think that Vista underperforms in every area of the system which is quite an incorrect perception. In this demo I show how Vista outperforms Windows XP and I show the under the covers process traces of just how it achieves it. Demo environment consists of two images. One Vista SP1 and the other Windows XP SP2 both on the same HDD IO and communicating across my home wireless network to a Windows Server 2008 box on my main LAN. Once the two images get going latency gets introduced and things start to slow down... except Vista doesn't slow down," Kleef stated.

even if it took xp a week to copy that file i still wouldn't use vista.
all
that video has said to me is that if i spend lots of money buying vista i will be able to
copy a file quicker compared to a 4 year old system (xp sp2). whoop-de-whoo!
if file
copying meant that much to me i'd save a bag of cash and use linux.
the other
area where vista is superior to any other operating system is the speed in which the end
user realises it's a bag of poo and switches back to xp.
2 hd3870 x2 in crossfire 8 gig of ram and life is good. performance smokes xp and the
plain and simple fact is xp has no crossfire support and it can't see over 3 gig of ram.
stop living in the past vista 64 baby ! upgrade your old shitt box with some new
components and after you do you don't want to ruin it with a 7 year old os, i know i
never will use xp again. 2 years from now the chump above won't be using it either:)
i am so much more then a chump friend. i am positively stupid, an advanced moron. i make
the average garden slug look intelligent. i can live with that though as i know i will
never be so stupid as to think vista is good.
you are right though, i will not be
using xp in 2 years time, i’ll be using linux.
here we go again vista vs xp spx vs linux vs os/2 vs my washing machine firmware ffs!
each operating system is good for certain purpose or certain hardware, ok vista is faster
when running on high-end hardware compared to xp running on the same hardware, i would not
like to see vista running on a 500mhz p3 with 256mb sdram (pc100)...
i love to lick penis and have penis up my butt at the same time.
and the virtual machine was probably running on xp.. lol
the long-awaited and much-delayed update to windows xp, service pack 3, is giving owners
of machines with amd hardware headaches aplenty it seems.

and i would like to see my blu ray disc play on my 7 year old dvd player, but it ain't
gonna happen:)
yes vista is faster??????
we have a guest operating system into another that use the
same hdd same cpu and not the same ram (xp uses less ram because it is the guest
operating) and off course the same connection
can any one believes that an guest
operation system runs at the same speed with the normal operating system?
as i'm refusing to listen to the haters, as i don't see what is wrong with vista?
it's stable, faster, yes a bit backwards compatibility bullshitter but i prefer
vista over xp...
this was a good video, and demonstrated that vista kicks the
shit out of xp.
oh my god, youre a stupid f.uck
you xp cry babies in a few years can huddle up with the other rejects ie linux, mac,
users..ha ha ha hah you can all band together and suk each others thumbs...
here is a dose of reality xp whiners,
http://www.neowin.net/news/main/08/05/07/pc-manufacturers-embrace-64-bit-vista-2
xp had a nice run, but 7 years is a bit much. time to embrace vista and help to make it
better. hopefully windows 7 will be to vista what 98se was to windows 95.
the man is testing against server 2008, this gives vista an advantage in file copy
procedure on high latency, -as he himself states.
the latency he is experiencing on
the 2 machines only happens because he is testing it on a wireless connection. granted,
vista and 2008 performs really well under the conditions he is giving them, but such a
high latency should never occur on a normal lan connection.
stick the vista drm in ur fu**kiiiiiin asses idiots... owww igot 8gb of ram with quad
core bblblabalbalba.
u dont even need 8gb of ram u moron for daily business
tasks. 4 cores neither... u can surf the net and word process with any computer in the
world expect vista if u have 1gb of memory.. it will b deadly slow if u want to switch
from ie to word...
vista is an error dot
"stick the vista drm in ur fu**kiiiiiin asses idiots" " dont even need 8gb of ram u
moron"
can you imagine working next to an ashole like this every day. what a
happy fellow. please take your medication and go back to your closet and wank off to your
copy of xp rtm.
stick has it right up his ashole, he must be the same fag who puts the homo comments all

xp sp3 cripples some pcs with endless reboots
critical security patch for
windows xp service pack 3 final
thats just the headlines from the front page...
man xp blows moose wang!
vista 64 baby !
i wub flammin...continue it guys!
yeah, the only thing that vista doing perfetly is that he saks xp's big kok
vista is monitored by nsa
i wonder what all these vista losers are talking about, if you're a good computer user
with penchant for anything hi-tech, then you should forget everything about microsoft and
her bullshit products.
every kid on the street who don't care about money, every man on the msshit who don't
care about users needs, want vista.why msshit want to push in your mouth every night and
day vista, vista and again vista?why they, from msshit of course, spend time and money to
push a lot of company to take vista "as is"?no company in this world will spent big cash
to change something that really works, something that really don't need again and again
more hardware.they push us to buy something that in 2010 will be obsolete and never good
as winxp,in his time.
so,don't make any mistake, vista will be forget, will never be
much beter than xp,even with such giga-ram,giga-cpu.maybe in the future windows 7 is the
real os after xp.will see...
