18 Features Windows Should Have
section: windows, for your questions: KezNews forum, 29.4.2008
Some of the coolest OS features are nowhere to be found in Windows XP or Vista. Here are 18 brilliant features that Microsoft should beg for, borrow, or steal--plus tips on how you can add many of them to your PC now.
Love it or hate it, Microsoft Windows is the world's most dominant operating system. But when you look at some of the hot features found in competitors such as Linux and Mac OS X, both XP and Vista can seem a little incomplete.
From intuitive interface features like Apple's application dock and Cover Flow to basic media capabilities such as ISO burning, Windows often falls short on built-in goodies. And some features that other operating systems offer by default-- such as 64-bit processing and business-networking tools--require a premium-version license in Windows.
We took a good look at a variety of OSs, from the Mac to Linux to PC-BSD and beyond, and we rounded up a list of our favorite features--few of which come standard in any version of Windows. We even considered some operating systems of yore, and recalled a couple of cool features that Microsoft still hasn't caught on to. Some of these features simply aren't available for Windows at all, owing to the way the OS is designed. But you can add most of them to XP or Vista with the help of third-party applications, and we'll show you how to get them.

i believe i don't need help in increasing the numbers on this list. the
bootload logo? the default scheme? default wallpaper? turtle speed? those f**cking
arrogants at m$? the 4 second sound of vista took 18 months to perfect it? can you believe
all this sh*it?
oh! what about this! : ""download our whatever, please check
requirements: xp32bit 512 ram - vista 1024 ram"".....

solved by thinking within the framework in which they were created." albert einstein
ok...i read the article. that writer has never used vista otherwise they would see that
everything he mentions, visat has (at least a version of them). the other os basically
stole vistas ideas and improved on them....so that makes them better???? not!!!!!
nick.....stop your whinning. if you do not like vista then spend 3 times the amount
and get a mac....then your complaining will really begin.....like what do you mean there
is no software for this mac and "holly s**t, another mac update...thats 5 today...20
yesterday, and the best, what do you mean it only took 28 seconds to hack a mac (leopard)
last year and they had to pay the $ to the hacker for winning the contest. (by the way,
vista took almost an hour).
stick with what 95% of the world is using...m$....now
get over it.
without the word shi*t, there would be no story here!
thank god windows doesn't have any of these usless features. all they do is add bling
and bloat and windows is fat enough.
read the comments on the pc-world article first, saves you the time of reading the actual
article which was written by somemone who doesn't work with (or at least knows anything
about) windows
"the other os basically stole vistas ideas and improved on them....so that makes them

spreading fud are we now? ms cannot improve vista
features so how did others improve the features then? you are just pointing a finger
without evidence like your mate ballmer does. feature introduced in vista existed in other
oses before vista wasted our time and money.
dont like it, dont use it, dont want it, disable it.
if you had everything you
wanted in a os, you still would not be happy.
install a lite version of want
you want to run (xp - vista) then add want you want to have running within it
problem solved
f*ck microsoft
windows is not perfect, it has too many thing to be better but, mac and mac-users are not
who can say that. if u think mac is better, ok! go and use it.. what is ur problem then?
and to windows-users, bef ore u buy a mac, try it first... do not de same mistake as
i have ever made!
