Microsoft: Windows XP SP3 RTM?

section: windows, for your questions: KezNews forum, 2.4.2008

The page states General Availability Date of XP SP3 is 31/03/2008 meaning it may well have RTM'd already but the software giant has not made an official public announcement.

With rumours that Microsoft has delayed XP SP3 to encourage sales of Vista we'd hope to see Microsoft give an official response to this as soon as possible. We will update you once we get a response from the company. Update: Microsoft has also posted a Windows XP Service Pack 3 Overview whitepaper. Microsoft has confirmed that the final version of Windows XP SP3 is still on target to be released the first half of calendar year 2008 but has refused to confirm an RTM date. of course they're delaying sp3 to encourage sales of of vista.

it's impossible to wean someone off an operating system. you have to make them take the plunge, like ripping off a band-aid in one pull.

Old crap again. I'm waitng for XP SP4

isn't it?

This is dumb

By KGB on 03.04.2008 - 04:04
alot of people already know that sp3 is around the corner, thus rather wait for sp3 a little longer then waisting money on vista.

that is a dumb mentality on m$ part, no suprise there.

i have seen the same old talk, when windows 95 was released.
no one can tell me vista is crap, when i have running and all devices are working fine...

all issues are third party problems and that’s down to those vendors to fix, not microsoft...

XP SP3 Delay

By !!! on 03.04.2008 - 16:04
mary jo foley reported the 3/31/08 availability date for sp3 was a misprint and that on april 2 microsoft informed her that sp3 had not made it to rtm.

one reason for the delay is to give support staff some time to deal with vista sp1 before sp3 also hits.

this overview has been up for a while.

sp3 support?

By whatever on 03.04.2008 - 21:04
they won't need support for sp3

I hate Vista

By JJ on 05.04.2008 - 08:04
at iq, wrong! microsft should have communicated better with hardware/software manufacturers better than they did about their new os. in the recent court case about vista in capable pcs internal emails from micrsoft reveals that corporate fatcats
within ms realized that no one liked or even trusted their company and were afraid to work with them for fear of being screwed. clearly lack of support for vista is microsoft mismangement. i would start by firing all upper management.
