Microsoft has put in place the preparations for Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 ready for Mix 08.
A full features page has been revealed which lists the following additions to Internet Explorer:
* Activities
* WebSlices
* Favorites Bar
* Automatic Crash Recovery
* Improved Phishing Filter
Activities allow users to lookup/send information in a right-click contextual menu, such as retrieving an address map from Windows Live Maps, submitting a story to Digg, sharing a page on Facebook etc. WebSlices allows users to crop a specific area section of a site and bookmark it. Improvements have been made to the phishing filter which continues to block known Phishing sites and now blocks sites known to contain malicious software that could harm users’ computer or steal their information.
Perhaps one of the best new features is Automatic Crash Recovery which recovers your tabs if your browser crashes. It is widely expected that Microsoft will release the first beta of Internet Explorer 8 at this years Mix 08 which begins today.
Update: The download is now live and can be installed on Microsoft Windows Vista, XP, Server 2008/2003

"automatic crash recovery" thats a feature that microsoft copyied from firefox.
this is totally rad man.....much better than safari!!!!!!....lol
this is gay, we cant install without vista sp1, there aint even a crack working...
the new one on the forums fcked up my boot loader.
some guy did a quick and dirty review of ie8 b1 (and a quick comparison to ff3 b3) at:
http://unspeakabletech.blog spot.com/ (remove the space between blog and spot)
it sounds like a significant improvement.
been using the xp sp2 version all day, its pinched allt the best parts of firefox, and it
feels a bit quicker too.
ie8beta is crap... dont install
this browser is the best ever!!! and its only in the beta stage. cant wait for the rtm
version
this is a good release still a bit buggy but not bad for a beta 1. apparently more
consumer features to come (announced at mix) soon as this is for web developers.
i'll wait
is this an upgrade or what? it slow my browsing..no themes..and it is same as the old
one..make the speed of my dial-up connection like to broadband..thats an upgrade..

extremely fast......., unbelievable, beats firefox, however video buffering speed is
still slow.
firefox has better security though, i hopes the rtm version beats firefox
as i love ie's design.
listen i never liked microsoft, but this browser is fast, stable, and well designed. i
think they should open source it, since there is no revenue associated with it anyway!
for fast, easy, and reliable performance noting is better than opera.
---opera
rulez---
get over it, opera stinks and safari is a joke. stick with firefox.
ie s-u-c-k-s ass & tits.
this version is surprisingly very good! i installed it without issues and it seems to be
a much faster, in fact, i think it's even a little faster than ff there is an option to
emulate ie 7, which must be engaged when you use msupdate. all-in-all very stable and
works great on my machine.
