Attacks on Mac OS X Exploded by 1,550% in 2007 Just a 36% Growth for Windows

Windows is without a doubt the most attacked platform in the world. Microsoft's proprietary operating system attracts no less than 96.36% of the world's malicious code, according to malware statistics for 2007, released by Kaspersky.
But while Windows leads by a landslide when it comes down to the actual volume of malware that preys on it, Apple's Mac OS X is also a leader in a top that is designed to provide little comfort for its users. OS X is the top platform in terms of the increase of attacks throughout 2007. While the volume of attacks impacting Windows has only grown by 36% from the first half of the past year, compared to the second half, those on Mac OS X exploded by no less than 1,550%.
"Despite the fact that the share of malicious programs for the Win32 environment amounted to 96.36% in 2007, it began to slowly but surely decline. The percentage of threats targeting platforms other than Win32 increased from 3.18% to 3.42% in the first six months of 2007, and exceeded 4% in the second half of the year. Growth for the full year amounted to 3.64%. In the last six months of 2007, the number of malicious programs, AdWare and potentially malicious programs for Win32 increased 36% from the first half of the year," explained Alexander Gostev. Senior Virus Analyst, Kaspersky Lab.
Aside from Windows, the remaining platforms experienced an increase in attacks of no less than 63%. There is the example of the open source Linux operating system, affected by 121 attacks in H1 2007 and just 45 in H2, therefore a decrease of 63%. At the opposite pole is Mac OS X. In the first half of the past year, Mac OS X suffered just 2 attacks. This number grew by 33 in the second half or a jump of 1,550%. Of course that actually reading Kaspersky's malware statistics per platform in 2007 it is clear that Windows was impacted by 228,593 attacks, while Linux and Mac OS X by just 166 and respectively 35.

so much for it being "secure" hahahaha... just like linux crap
and all the mac and linux ones require access to the computer, so its not much of an
exploit,
windows can be cleaned from malware and viruses and trojans if the user is smart
enough....
but try cleaning a mac os or linux!!!
the rest are craps and contaminated
mac os has so many holes u would not believe it! just as "us" hackers started to use
macos.. we started to notice that.
mac os attacks are far more entertaining
than windows as most of mac os user are stupid gays or girlies who donno shit about
computers hahha as they care about it being nice looking and "cute" muhahahaha
those statistics are totally misleading. it is the same as when you go shopping, you saw
the price tag for $9.99 instead of $10. they are basically the same, but $9.99 looks a
lot cheaper just because it is a single digital in dollar. psychological strategy.
same thing here. the 1500% increases in 2007 for malware for mac osx here can't prove
anything at all. this just mean, mac osx is really safe in the past because no one write
malware for it. also prove mac osx have a much lower market in the past, so hacker don't
bother writing malware for it. but when it become popular, they start. so meaning, if
they have 0 malware in the past, if hacker write only 1 malware. their increase will be
100% already. but compared to windows, if they have 10,000 malware in the past, if hacker
write 100 additional malware, it is just 0.1% increase. so i think this only prove 2
things here. if you look in the bright size, apple mac os x is gaining market and the
hacker just proved it by their interest in writing malware for it. meaning they are
gaining market. you can than expect a lot more software for this platform in the future so
the gap between # of software for windows and mac will narrowed. 2nd, all those who blast
mac os x in the past saying they are not safe because they also have holes - meaning they
are wrong in the past because if they are right, the 1500% increase is not possible. this
is possible because mac osx have no or little malware in the past so the # can easily
increase this much. but in the future, you'll definitely see more malware because of
gaining popularity of mac os x
btw, the definitely of safe includes a lot of things. even if mac do have a lot of holes
in the past, if no one write malware for it, meaning it is still safe. a problem can only
occur when something is willing to happen.
at the end. just to say i am not
support a mac supporter nor a windows supporter. i used windows for almost all my life
for the last 25 years. i started mac only when i enter design school which is standard.
they are both good. just that i still like windows more because there is a lot more
programs.
sorry for multiple post - the add comment don't let me. saying some
html disabled. i tried breaking it up and it is fine.
when hackers started writing exploits for windows u had to be at the computer
too(ofcourse internet was not available at the time, but still).. they are just starting to
write exploits for macs... wait for a few years!!all of youll noobs using will cry and
come running towards windows and linux and will cry more coz you wouldnt know how to use a
pc coz u were baby fed with a mac
stupid asswhole!!!
cleaning windows it's easy...format c and recover your partition from a backup
