Microsoft to crack down on Vista cracks

Microsoft will feed Windows Vista users an update in the next week to finger illegal copies installed with cracks that the company will bust when it rolls out Service Pack 1 (SP1) in mid-March.
The just-announced update, which will go out via Windows Update (WU) and install automatically on most Vista machines, will detect two cracks commonly used to activate pirated copies of the operating system. The cracks evade Vista's built-in counterfeit-detection technology by sidestepping product activation and spoofing a legitimate installation.
One of the cracks, "Grace Timer," extends Vista's activation grace period, which is normally 30 days, until the year 2099. The other, called OEM BIOS, modifies system files and the PC's BIOS to mimic the product activation done by computer-makers at the factory.
Both will be blocked by Vista SP1, the major update that will hit WU as an optional download in mid-March and automatically download and install the next month.
February's Vista update, however, will only detect cracks, notify the user and offer up a solution, said Alex Kochis, senior product manager for Microsoft's Windows Genuine Advantage program, in a post to the team's blog. It will not disable, block or cripple the cracks.
"It's important to note that this update does not disable the exploits it finds," said Kochis. "It simply alerts customers that exploits exist." At the same time it rolls out the crack-detection update, Microsoft will also post a separate removal tool for download, Kochis added. "In the future, we will integrate the removal of the exploits with the detection," he said.

sure it might affect many out there with cracks, but it will be a matter of time before
someone has a solution for sp1.
eh, sp1 doesn't detect the oem bios crack. many people are already enjoying sp1
activated. bunch of non-sense.
vista loader cracks sp1 perfectly
lets see how many oem pc's microsoft screws up. could be interesting to watch. this
mimcrosoft bs doesnt mean much anyways. microsoft just released the code to the world a
few days ago to keep them out of hot water. patches will be a dime a dozen as the code
tells how everything work.this is why they arent wacking people for running the
patches.they are spending more money on software security for vista than what they lose on
pirated software. doesnt make sense.......

i can see this update identifying legal oem copies of vista as pirate and i am just
waiting to see how microsoft deals with the backlash. if you have an oem machine (with oem
bios) there is nothing they can do to stop you sp1 will work.
this is old news - everyone has been forewarned and has switched off the simpler oem
hacks. my sp1 works great with the new hack. ms can k*ss my you know what.
while sp1 kills the timerstop crack it can't kill boot loader and bios cracks. that's
why microsoft says it won't disable those cracks because it can't. just admit it
microsoft you can't stop those cracks. identifying them won't do s h i t and someone
will come up with something to deal with their annoying little pirate messages.

hi... the sp1 runs with the bios crack, because it wasn't fixxed this methode... the new

someone just make a patch to get rid of the nag screens. the cracks will still
work.microsoft stated that those who run the patches will get a nag screen telling you to
fix it. they arent disabling the patches.

i ran threw microsoft's article for detecting oem bios cracks and none of what they have
in that article applies to my vista installation. as i said before they cannot stop
someone who has a oem computer and has a oem bios, sp1 will work.

speaking, if you got rip off by some black market people who sell you vista telling you is
legal version and you paid for it. well, where did the money go? to the black market and
not microsoft. you're the one being rip off, so microsoft is not responsible. so, if
you're going to buy the product, get it at a safe place. a place you're sure it will
not be a rip off. the safest probably places like best buy, etc. but it will cost you a
fortune.
i've got sp1 installed with an oem crack and it's done nothing but congradulate me
i am using xp on my main machine but the other is running vista sp1 just fine and it's
about as legal as bottling babies ;)
i bought an oem vista comp and just downloading all the shit micro has thats legit
stopped my comp in its tracks and thats why people are going to cracked versions i cant
even take the disk back cause it was past 30 days you shits at ms.

theres a good reason why msoft cant disable the bios emulator, because its not a crack,
its simply a bios emulator that runs outside of windows, there for is not part of windows
or has anything to do with it, and the certificate files are part of normal oem setup, so
thay cant remove or disable those ether, the only thing thay can do, is force windows oem
to reactivate online, since oem keys dont need to be activated online, and thay cant
change there policy on this on the fly, because it would leave a lot of oem machines in
the shit!

im using vista cracked oem and it works well with service pack 1 this instalation can be
found on mininova its the dell 32 bit preactivated edition ive been using it fae it came
out and i have installed it on hundreds of machines and had no problams its microsofts
fault that with tecnolgy these days they could of mad a system un hacke able but i must
thank the hakers out there for this download and hope to use it alot longer it runs well
with all the vista tweeks and hidden cracks
can micro soft turn of bios emulator or will this fu8k other oem computers up !! i dont
care any way for im sure the hakers will come up with some thing else ive got cracked
versons of xp home xp pro and xp pro 64 and linux and xp as one hacked in the 1 system
you can get all these downloads from bittorrent sites and are widley available for anyone
to download all you need to do is download magic iso and its crack then download
preactivated vista iso and use magic iso to created disk instal and off you go its that
easy
they will never be able to stop slic oem crack, as this would cripple all the legal oem
pc s.
