This Is Windows 7 M1 Build 6.1.6519.1 Ultimate Version in All Its Splendor

section: windows, for your questions: KezNews forum, 14.2.2008

Feast your eyes on Windows 7 Milestone 1 Build 6.1.6519.1 Ultimate version in all its splendor. In January 2008, Windows 7, the successor of Windows Vista managed to steal the wind out of the sales of Vista SP1, Windows XP SP3 and Windows Server 2008.

Word went out that Microsoft had delivered an early testing milestone of Windows 7 to key company partners. Otherwise, the Redmond company has failed to officially confirm the existence of Windows 7 M1 outside of Redmond, but all the details, screenshots and videos of the operating system offer an early sneak peek into what Microsoft is cooking with the next iteration of Windows.

As of yet, Windows 7 M1 is not even a standalone product, it has to be installed on top of Windows Vista SP1. And in this context, the installation experience is very similar to what Vista has to offer with one exception. What's Next? revealed that users have the option to create a HomeGroup in order to share photos, videos, music, and printers with additional machines on a household network. Windows 7 Milestone 1 comes with kernel version 6.1, as Microsoft has yet to integrate the MinWin core into the platform. The full version is Build 6519.1.x86.fre.winmain.071220-1525.

And reminiscences of Windows Vista are embedded deep into Windows 7 M1 Ultimate version. Illustrative examples in this respect are the Aurora design and the Windows Aero graphical user interface. Windows 7 users will be able to enjoy an updated system tray display hidden icons box complete with transparency effects. However, the most relevant tweak of Windows 7 is the fact that even in full screen windows retain their transparent borders unlike in Vista.

And even in this early stage of development, Microsoft has revamped the Control panel, as well as the desktop contextual right-click menu, and introduced a new Backup and Recovery Center. The changes of course do not stop here. The Start menu was also overhauled and now features pins, while performing a search uses the entire space of the box. There's also a new built in XPS Viewer, a tweaked Windows Media Center, an updated Calculator, and fresh versions of Internet Explorer 7 and Windows Mail.

vista reloaded, xp second edition, windows neptune, and longhorn

By netsendjoe on 15.02.2008 - 14:02
windows 7 can be considered vista reloaded right now, but by the time it goes beta it will be more evolved.
xp second edition was the translucent version of xp. released as xpsp2 should have really been compiled in conjuction with windows server 2003 sp1 and there never would have been a delay.. now another interesting thing is that leftovers from neptune and longhorn will be part of windows 7.. early in development of neptune there were binary hints towards a completely 3d interface, vista does have good graphics, but 3d should mean that you can physically rotate windows at any time... so in addition to maximize and minimize hopefully we will see new ways to manipulate and visualize our windows (like 3d flip but without actually flipping)

windows 7 already 2 years into development

By netsendjoe on 15.02.2008 - 15:02
actual development started over 2 years ago. when longhorn was "reset", the individual labs still kept their development... no one throws away code.. more than likely we copy, paste and edit it as needed. microsoft has done the same, basically the longhorn reset meant a raised bar of quality that had to come from each feature/component before it was added to the main development branch. vista was born from the componentization work that was done to make windows easier and faster to develop, but vista was and still is basically a worldwide beta for what longhorn was meant to be, windows 7, or vista reloaded, however you look at it the groundwork was already laid and server 2008 was developed side by side with vista sp1 (making rtm look like a beta) this is what should have been done with xpsp2 and windows server 2003 sp1. during the past year development has actually gone more towards windows 7 than people realize. with vista sp1 and server 2008 being in a release candidate stage, mostly bug fixing and other adjustments were being done to those systems, giving the development team plenty of time to develop some of the longhorn leftover features that got cut from vista.
builds such as this one will only show features/functionality that works and will not reflect work that has been going on until labs reach a certain stability/testing barrier. having seperated the kernel from the os might actually make windows 7 perform like vista on the same hardware, even by release time... but since this build is 6.1 it doesnt even have the minwin kernel yet, otherwise it might actually perform a hell of alot better than vista.

and no this is not vista sp2. sp2 will be developed in sync with windows server 2008 sp1 and would not change the major build from 6.0 to 6.1 ... it will be build 6002

hey bro i havent talked to u in forever u should sign on msn!

Nice but......

By The CAT on 15.02.2008 - 22:02
i like the restore snapshot-type features i saw in the screenshots although microsoft needs to stay focused on vista. vista still is not complete in my opinion as there are things still not working perfectly yet. i'm a firm believer of finishing one thing before you start another. if microsoft doesn't fix these issues how can i trust windows 7? how can i be sure if microsoft will release this and have problems they'll forget about building windows 8? the trust has been broken, fix this first!!!

at YOU Kez

By jordy on 16.02.2008 - 18:02
softpedia steals all of their stuff from other sites, so what's the difference?

How stupid a person can be especially...

By You KEZ on 17.02.2008 - 01:02
when you open the images you are redirected to softpedia, right? what's the need for giving credits, when you kez gives the content of the original publisher? well maybe it makes sense, in case you are really stupid like you seem you are - cheers.

Credit

By Jratz91 on 17.02.2008 - 07:02
you morons. look next to the thumbs of the pictures of w7. it says "source: news.softpedia.com" stop your whining cause credit has been given.
at any rate, windows vista needs serious work before windows 7 should even be thought of, though i won't complain if xp sp3 comes out fairly quick, i'm refusing to upgrade to vista because i've seen the problems my cousin has with her vista laptops. on top of that, w7 still needs the vista sp1 to run, they haven't even gotten that far so it's bound to look like vista and have it's features until they're removed and w7 becomes it's own independent os.

Windows 7

By Mofu_v2.3 on 17.02.2008 - 10:02
vista and windows 7 are nothing but a pile of dog shit. i want to work with other programms not with windows itself the whole time. no memory left on my 2 gb for mem intense apps. dont make no sense at all. they all sell now shiny laptops where aero looks so cool ... lol think about it. you want to look at a nice os and wallpaper and thats it?

I agree

By jenkem on 17.02.2008 - 18:02
