Vista SP1 RTM Is Available for Download

section: windows, for your questions: KezNews forum, 12.2.2008

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 RTM has been made available for download after the bits went gold on February 4, 2008.

In an unexpected move, Microsoft released Vista SP1 to manufacturing on February 4, but postponed general availability until mid-March, due to quality concerns regarding specific driver integration.

"As I explained, one reason for this is that we are working through an issue with a small set of hardware devices that may not function properly after the Windows Vista-based PC they are installed on is updated to SP1. This is an issue with the way the device drivers were re-installed during the SP1 update process, not with the drivers themselves -- these drivers worked on Windows Vista RTM and they work on Windows Vista SP1. For new PCs with Windows Vista SP1 pre-installed, this is not an issue," revealed Mike Nash, Microsoft Corporate Vice President, Windows Product Management.

According to Nash, Microsoft is hard at work with the manufacturer of the hardware whose device drivers fail to integrate with Vista SP1 in order to resolve the problem. In addition, the Redmond company is also hard at work on preparing a smooth end user experience when delivering Vista SP1 over Windows Update. However, even at this point in time, the problem can be easily dealt with by simply uninstalling and then reinstalling the faulty drivers. Still, the mid-March general availability date for Vista SP1 will not be changed.

"We've heard the feedback and I want to update you on our plans and progress for making SP1 available to our beta participants, our Volume Licensing customers, and our MSDN/TechNet Plus subscribers: late Friday we made SP1 RTM available to individuals and companies who participated in the SP1 beta program; at the end of this week we will be making the English version of Windows Vista SP1 available to Volume Licensing customers (other languages will follow soon after) and later this month, SP1 will be available to MSDN and TechNet Plus subscribers," Nash added.

a few problems

By buggered on 12.02.2008 - 12:02
i along with a few other have no joy with vistaloader even after i removed paradox with voaktools..

sp1 installed fine but my pc crashes at boot-up (directly after vistaloader installed) saying invalid boot.ini file, booting from c:\windows.... then nothing!

i got myself a full retail copy of ultimate 32&64-bit yesterday for £100 as i'm getting too old and tired, wasting too many hours cracking software... good luck though.

F**k off.

By chrismrulz on 12.02.2008 - 20:02
nobody wants linux ffs.
you can't do anything on it except compile crappy apps (which is usually compulsory on linux) or run ms office imitations.

anyone who wants a computer to do.. computer stuff,
e.g. playing games, or videos (with the proper codecs designed for windows, and ability to play hd-dvd/blu ray) etc..
will stick with windows thank you very much.
you don't see us spamming linux forums tryna advertise windows.
we don't need to because windows is actually successful because it's better.
unlike the 1% marketshare of linux.

funny

0.1 billion copies my arse.

By Sturmeh on 13.02.2008 - 07:02
linux isn't dead, in fact it's beginning an uprising. given the latest os "vista" not being much of an improvement over xp, many users have switched to some sort of dual boot configuration to mess with linux.

as to how many copies linux has sold, well that's hard to say, redhat enterprise is $2, and they have sold alot, but most distro's are free, so it's pretty hard to track sales.

but there are more downloads of linux, than purchases of windows. ( vista atleast. )

Crack

By GeForce on 13.02.2008 - 09:02
just type "windows vista loader" in the right top corner of this page and you will find what you need :-)

Yeshuahava is lol

By violator on 16.02.2008 - 17:02
ms is only garbage if your a n00b, same can be said about ubuntu and others.
still, ms has the os that rules on most workstations, and will keep that position until some other os can be compatible without the use of emu's.
until then i will buy and run windows on my workstation.
so who says that the truth hurts?

Vista

By A0020 on 17.02.2008 - 20:02
how to crack vista sp1
you need voatktoolsv.2.2_stand_alone and vista loader 2.1.2

1. use voatktoolsv.2.2_stand_alone to change your vista to oem not retail
2.then open the folder vista loader 2.1.2 and then execute install.bat as administrator
then restart after the boot cd screen part in will have a error so reboot and put your vista disc in the tray and boot from that then click repair then go to automatic repair after that reboot it will successfully boot and right click computer and click properties and check
if it says windows is activated if so
there you have.

Retards argue Windows vs. Linux

By Your Dad on 21.02.2008 - 05:02
i use both windows and linux. "better" is a matter of preference. the bottom line is that windows is marketed and linux is not, and that is why windows sells. there are tons of programs available for linux that do the exact same things all windows apps do, but people normally either do not know what its called or do not care to learn how to use them. i don't blame you, because most people have had m$ in their face for how many years now? gui has it's limits, and therefore windows has limits. linux takes a lil' know-how, and most of us americans hate reading ;p.

as a matter od fact, the best way to crack vista is with the use of linux. i snagged a copy of sp! from usenet a few weeks ago, and spent a few days taking it apart in linux to have a look-see. the boot loader will work until it is checked for. i say "be patient windows fans," someone will come up with something new soon enough. personally, i think vista does the job fine and is a decent os, but at the same time i firmly believe it's only saving grace is direct x 10.

daddy out, bitches....

Linux

By blizz26 on 23.02.2008 - 03:02
tell linux to get thier head out of thier butts. you cant do much with linux except surf. give me a list of recent decent games you can play with linux? what exactly should i use linus for? is linux backwards compatible with all windows based applications? what about drivers? i dont believe i see linux drivers on gigabyte for my 300.00 board. give it up! id rather run windows 98 than linux! it would fly on a quad core!

Linux

By Saint on 01.03.2008 - 20:03
ive used ubuntu studio for a while, but in the end i came back to vista, one reason being that so far ubuntu can't touch the sound quality i get on vista, this is probably driver related but wheres the linux driver for my hd sound card? i dont think it exists lol, somone make me one and il switch back to linux

Linix

By Colby Swandalew on 11.03.2008 - 11:03
i have tried linix and even though its free (thank god) its better in security then windows but what the hell have they bee doing! i havent seen 1 decent game that works on linux, or a good quality driver at all soo i basicly saying whats the point of fedora beeing in the os game theres no point barley no one uses it now i would agree from the guy that a couple of quotes up
"windows 98 is bettre then fedora
even i would agree with that and windows 98 was a downfall to windows and thats really sad for the linux complany : but for there security i think they should be working for ms becuase the guys working there now need a good kick up the bum :d
