why would i consider an os ridden with drm and spyware galore? or the fact that it has a
footprint 10x that of xp pro? or maybe the nifty new features like uac, or the backwards
non compatibility for programs that ran fine on xp or drivers that just don't work? i
dunno, maybe i just want to make microsoft richer for an os that has absolutely no reason
to even exist.
name one thing, c'mon! one thing that vista can do that xp
can't....its a memory whore bigtime.
i know.
dx10
iknow: guess again. i ran both vista ultimate 32 bit with xp pro 32 bit on a quad core
3.0 ghz intel processor, 4 gigs of ddr2 ram, 512 mb nvidia card. i tested 2 games,
bioshock and crysis. the games were very sluggish with vista.
with xp under direct x
9 both games ran like the wind! check out tom's hardware guide, they will tell you the
same thing, xp with direct x 9 runs games better that vista with 10. me, i am sticking
with xp, vista stinks.
512mb nvidia graphics card? do you know what model? or is it a shitty arse 6200 with
256mb turbocache and your to embaressed to admit it. i'm pretty sure that vista
out-preforms xp by a mile according to recent reports. security is much higher in vista,
particularly 64 bit.
of course vista will run games slower xp in dx10 mode. xp
does not run games in dx10!!! its like running a game in shader 2.0 rather than 3.0
stupid. games will run faster in 2.0. same in vista. 4.0 compared to 3.0. learn this noob.
i really hope iknow has heard of dx10 cracks for xp *facepalm* you do realise that crysis
can run with full dx10 effects in xp right?
will
my current video card is not subgrade. it was bought as 'vista compatible'
when
i replaced built a new pc last year. ii is a gforce 7950 gt, while not top of
the line it set me back about $250.00.
if you bothered reading my original post i
never said that xp ran games in direct x 10. read this very s l o w l y and carefully
willy, on identical hardware xp using direct x 9 outperformed vista using direct x 10.
this is a fact. check out tom's hardware guide under the gaming section.
i don't
know what planet you're from but the latest information on the web confirms that xp
outperforms vista in everything! which is why i went back to xp pro. i run dual core 3.4
ghz xeons with 4 gigs of ddr2 ram on this machine, so its not below par or antiquated in
anyway. hell, i alpha and beta tested longhorn/ and vista. i went through many many
builds, so i think i know what i am talking about boy.
but that doesn't mean that everyone else should also not like it. to each his/her own.
(his is not understand that vista is better os. he is fail.)
say what????????
do you mean: he does not understand that vista is the best os. at this time! he
is a fool! ???????
the only reason that microsoft doesn't make directx 10 for windows xp pro because uncle
steve bummer learned that majority of window 98 users refused to buy windows me because
1) the directx 6/7 were available for window 98 and window me.
2) windows
me was a horrible product
uncle steve bummer knows that windows vista is a
reincarnation of the horrible windows me. so, uncle steve bummer has to kill the directx
10 for window xp pro to force gamers and users to buy windows vista. no xp gamers and
technical competent users would ever spend $400 on vista to slow their games or their
systems down deliberately.
by the way, only real stupid incompetent fools would
ever think that ms windows vista is the best os. only uncle bill and uncle steve
bummer's blinded worshippers would ever say that windows vista is better os than windows
xp.
note: i haven't tested vista with sp1 my post is based on the rtm version!
vista is
secure and stable, it has better networking and sound stack than xp. it has better ui.
why i do not use it? :
1.eating too much ram memory - it needs at least 2 gigs
to work (for gaming it needs at least 4)
2.need about 10 times more hard drive space
than xp
3.boots slowly than xp
4.needs more time to load application (it does
not matter which one, if you do not believe me try photoshop cs3 on xp and vista just for
a test)
5.driver comatiblity (well this is not microsoft's fault but manifacturer
fault) most of the manifacturers drivers for vista gives slow performance (test 3dmark in
xp and in vista)
5.there is a lot of software which would not run on it properly
(this is understandable because it is nt6 version, completely new)
6.microsoft had
contracted most of the oem manifacturers not to write drivers for xp anymore .... a sad
thing (but there is always workarounds)
...
there are a lot more
reasons but i am tired of writing so i will skip them. also the main reason that i dumped
vista and returned back to xp is the slower overal performance of the os, someone will say
that my pc is a crap, well it is not the best on the market but it is fine:
athlon x2
4000+
2 gb ddr2
nvidia 8500 512 mb ddr3
320 gb sataii hdd 16 mb cache
it is a descent pc which should run vista just fine but it does not. i have tryed a
lot of drivers and still can not get the xp performance, and i am not talking about games
but software. after all vista is a resource hug thats why everything works slower. it may
be more secure and beautyful with a amazing network stack, but the performance is poor.
on a side note, please do not post lame comments, and backup your claims with
proofs. i hate commects like "you are a fool if you are not using vista" like the
previous ones.
why don't all those 'waaah get xp' people go ahead and test those boot times, game
performance and other crap you constantly spew without a service pack installed? i thought
so.
does anyone have the official hashes from the files from mvls? thanks
if you used the same video card to test a game and one test was with dx9 and the other
with dx10 the test with dx9 would obviously be faster. you are using old software with
inferior graphics capabilities versus new software which will slow down a game because of
its better quality. new hardware rates faster on older software because it's not taking
advantage of that new hardwares capabilities.
i don't think vista is crap
but it is a resource hog. i like the seamless networking in vista. it's way faster than
xp in that regard. uac is a joke to be honest. most people just turn it off. i have not
been affected by drm at all with vista. too many have made too big a deal about drm and
vista. i believe it just to be a tool for the haters to sway people from vista.
i remember when xp first came out. lower end computers had a difficult time running
it just as vista doesn't run well on low end systems. i remember that people would dog
xp a lot like they are doing with vista now. sp2? sp2 use to be an evil thing with most
people. now most people have it. the lesson here is people don't like change. those
who do will accept vista and those who don't won't but they will in time.
i've loaded vista on a system with a 2.8ghz p4, 1.5gb ram, 128mb video card and it runs
great. even with dreamscene running. the only thing i did was upgrade the memory from
512mb to 1.5gb. it never tested it with the 512mb because i knew vista was a memory hog.
so you if you're going to run vista 1.5 - 2gb ram is probably where you want to be. this
happened with xp too. back then a lot of people probably had 64mb of memory. when xp
became more popular people starting upgrading their ram. the transistion from xp to vista
is a lot like what happened with win98 to xp.
everyone is entitled to their
opinion but it doesn't make everyone right. sooner or later you'll have to switch
because xp support will go away. it's just natural progression.
dan:
well whatever floats your boat. i agree that vista is a progressive step
towards
what i hope is a more mature, user friendly os. vista needs alot of work.
problem is, i need my os to work now. i have many programs that simply do not work with
vista, that i use on a daily basis. from what i have learned windows 7 could be released
around december 2009.
so, i'll watch for that. i will say vlite intrigues me. if i
could rip drm and about half of the crap out of vista it would definately be better, no
doubt.
i tested vista sp1 and are many improvements,i've played call of duty 4 on both
os....and with fraps the only diference was 1 fps...so i think soon...it will be like
xp...u all don't like vista because u don't have strong sistems...and throw acuzations
...
lol you 'found' it on keznews... so maybe u should just give people the link to the
good keznews forum post/article instead of spamming ur crappy windows forum everywhere, i
have seen you spam that crap forum for years and still it has little activity, i feel
sorry for your mom, no one else does that small.
ati 2400 xt 512 mb 64 bit
vista buisnes service pack 1
4 gb no watermark
vista activator v2.1.2.1.1 for x32 and x64
c'mon! one thing that vista can do that xp can't
- driver in user space?
- uac?
- uipi?
- ie protected mode?
- kernel protection?
- dx 10?
- tcp, audio and new print stack?
i have a new pc (high end: c2d e6850, 4 gb 1006 mhz ram, xfx nvidia 8800 ultra xxx,
raptor,...)
vista does everything faster then xp on this system. it starts up in
about 25-30 seconds, xp needs over a minute...
gaming goes faster in vista too.
i don't know what everybody is babbling about...
my audio works like shat in vista
buisnes vista with service pack 1 work great little problem only with alcohol 120
any problem with drivers
download driver audigy web site
i cant comment about audigy cards but x-fi works great with vista. took creative a few
months after vista was released before they had decent ones out.
as an mvls client into big $$$ i am very disappointed that all the web traffic says the
sp1 download is available to me... the standard download site is not up - says:
microsoft license statement
service temporarily unavailable
couse, this
means that i cannot get to any of my licensed software - over $100k over a 3yr period, and
no access since last friday.
weak - very weak microsoft - i do expect more than
this...
