vLite v1.1.1

section: download, for your questions: KezNews forum, 6.2.2008

vLite is a tool for customizing the Windows Vista installation before actually installing it.

Main features are:

* hotfix, language pack and driver integration
* component removal
* unattended setup
* tweaks
* split/merge Vista installation CDs
* create ISO and burn bootable CD/DVD

Windows Vista from Microsoft takes a lot of resources, we all know that. vLite provides you with an easy removal of the unwanted components in order to make Vista run faster and to your liking.

This tool doesn't use any kind of hacking, all files and registry entries are protected as they would be if you install the unedited version only with the changes you select.

It configures the installation directly before the installation, meaning you'll have to remake the ISO and reinstall it. This method is much cleaner, not to mention easier and more logical than doing it after installation on every reinstall.

CHANGELOG:

* fix: Registry Load error under XP
* fix: 32bit under 64bit search (Natural Language)
* fix: Logitech SetPoint device tabs missing (System Restore)

Not Recommended

microsoft does not recommend improving vista by removing these "important" windows components.

so please, heed microsofts warning and only removing the useless stuff. :p

Nice program

this is a nice program that works nice. while microsoft doesn't recommend using it that part is ignorable. xp lite and vista lite are nice programs that have provided "lite" version of both os's that not only work great, but are small and faster running on "older" machines. obviously it does take a knowledge of how to use them and those who are computer geeks will enjoy these programs. the rest should continue to get email, surf the web and not try to get too technical.

vlite is a wicked program, the only problem is that you cant install the service pack using a v-lited vista (which means i've had to reinstall a full vista on my machine). so yes it's a good program, but if u want sp1 don't use it.

it's a great program, if you know what you are doing. some people go hog wild with it, and exclude things they may actually need a month down the road...all to save an extra 100 mb, or to boot an extra second faster.

Be careful
