It was only a matter of time..

Not too long after Microsoft had released a developer build of the Windows 7 Milestone 1 release to a select few, review and opinion pieces started to leak onto Windows enthusiast sites by OEM employees or their beneficiaries.

So it's hardly surprising that now -just a few days later, the full naked DVD image has started to show up on a few torrent sites.

Most have been verified as fake and removed, and while we haven't been able to verify for ourselves if indeed the milestone has been leaked to the pirating community, it sure is stirring up a lot of interest in the past 24hrs!

By poohead on 27.01.2008 - 01:01
are those torrents for real?

lol hell no

By win7fake on 27.01.2008 - 03:01
those torrents are fake dude

Windows 7 Its the real thing baby!

By Billy The Kid on 27.01.2008 - 04:01
i am sorry-the people who frequent this site are either children with edd, or low iq morons with acess to a keyboard. windows 7 is here and now. deal with it. the people who just shelled out big bucks for the vista ultimate are feeling duped about now. 'what do you mean vista is a turkey'? i just love uac! riiight! the people using vista are little more than beta testers. microsoft realizes the next solid, stable os will take a bit more effort. vista ain't it. not even close. vista is like an unwelcome pregnancy. it should be aborted like windows me.

vista (longhorn) was around the corner.

windows 7 is real, this is not

By mark on 27.01.2008 - 05:01
billy the kid, people have downloaded it. it's fake. yes windows 7 is in development, everyone knows that. it was never a secret. but it is not here and now. it won't be here until late 2009 to 2010 or later. looks like you're the moron for being baited into believing all these fakes are real.

Blank Isos

By Luthian on 27.01.2008 - 06:01
downloaded both the isos being offered both were completely blank.
will keep my fingers crossed though, it is bound to leak eventually.

polluting the bandwidth

By netsendjoe on 27.01.2008 - 06:01
i dont have to download these iso's to know that they are fake. people lose their jobs over things like this. yes windows 7 has been in development for over a year now and the labs have some other work done that the m1 will not show. but microsoft will stop giving code drops to oem's and tap partners who are suspected of leaking such material. there will be no m1 leak, wait until beta 1 at the end of the year people. these zero byte file and fake torrents are polluting our bandwidth and making it hard for legitimate people to surf blogs and forums without coming across this type of crap.

still in planning stages

By mark on 27.01.2008 - 07:01
q. what is the expected timeline for the availability of windows 7?

a. we are currently in the planning stages for windows 7 and expect it will take approximately 3 years to develop.

http://www.winvistaclub.com/i7.html

in other words they haven't even started on it yet, how could there be a leaked iso!? stop being so gullible. lmao

of course it will be made eventually

By mark on 27.01.2008 - 07:01
no one said vista wasn't real, they said this leak is a fake. as were all the supposed screenshots and videos. there's a subtle difference. everybody knows there will be a new version of windows after vista. i mean, duh!

previous post correction

By mark on 27.01.2008 - 07:01
oops, i meant "no one said windows 7 wasn't real". i wish you could edit posts on here. :)

planning? yea right.

By Luthian on 27.01.2008 - 07:01
the milestone 1 code drop is %100 percent real. i have personally seen it running on the computers in the offices of no less than 3 devs at microsoft. also, the leaked screenshots and video are exactly the same as what i saw, it looks almsot exactly the same as vista at this point. if you don't believe me, i don't care, but please, the line about planning stages is complete bull.

wonder what's in Billy the Kid's brain.

By laugher on 27.01.2008 - 09:01
hahaha. billy the kid make me laugh. he/she probably too childish to think or couldn't read properly. no one is saying windows 7 is not real here. everyone know it is coming. they are just saying "the torrent spreading around right now is fake." which it is, they are just a bunch of zero byte image file.

yo kid, let me quote what mark said again, hopefully you'll read properly this time.

"billy the kid, people have downloaded it. it's fake. yes windows 7 is in development, everyone knows that. it was never a secret. but it is not here and now. it won't be here until late 2009 to 2010 or later. looks like you're the moron for being baited into believing all these fakes are real."

pay attention to capital. i emphasize it for you making sure you can read.

no capital

By laugher on 27.01.2008 - 09:01
the comment automatically turn all my capital to lowercase. sorry. let me just quote that part of mark again

"yes windows 7 is in development, everyone knows that."

well. at the mean time, every iso i found are all zero type image. haven't encounter the milestone yet.

if the kernel (winmin) allows running vista's xserver + winodows manager then what's the prob ?

Why cant is be possible

By ozzy747 on 29.01.2008 - 02:01
just my 2 cents but why cant it be possible for a leaked version of win7 to hit the net? from what i have heard and understood while in the making of vista, im sure they have allready begun windows 7 right along with vista. so why is it so hard to believe? im not saying it the real deal just wondering is all.

Vista

By bradderz on 30.01.2008 - 23:01
i like the fact that people are flaming vista. because the fact that vista was poor when it was released and is getting better as times goes on. but their are hardly 2 computers the same around the world , so each piece of hardware ovbiosly has to have drivers , all the hardware that are available for windows pc's, well there are thousands. vista runs better on a computer that was built to run it , not a upgrade from xp. i hate apple , but just saying that it is alot easier for the apple os, because they have few computers and few hardware out there available.

Reply to Ozzy

By Eambo on 12.02.2008 - 01:02
ozzy, the reason why it's so unbelievable is that the security in these sort of places is tight, and people can not only be terminated from their jobs, but also sued against for leaking it. would you risk your job and livelyhood to make a few betakiddies happy that they have got an early, barely touched release?

i read an article today about ea's testing and security. they have multiple checkpoints to get in/out, security cards for clearance, and the translators from english to other languages aren't even allowed to see what they're translating - they're just giving a setting and some audio. i'm sure microsoft are just as strict about their security as far as their new releases are concerned.

nope your wrong!

By mr smith on 19.02.2008 - 20:02
i know someone who works for microsoft and is in the process of developing windows 7. the security these isnt tight. you have cards, theres fingerprint readers but you do what you want, whenever you want. by this i mean you take as much breaks have as much
