Well I guess it was only a matter of time. Microsoft has already shipped the first testing builds of Windows 7, the successor of Windows Vista, to key partners.

The Redmond company will not of course, under any conditions confirm this detail, or breathe a single word about the early testing development milestone of Windows 7, but various third parties were not as shy as Microsoft when it came down to sharing details about the next iteration of Windows. But despite the deafening silence from Microsoft around the next version of the Windows operating system, Windows 7 Milestone 1 Build 6.1.6519.1 indeed shipped outside of Redmond. Included in this article are the first leaked screenshots of Windows 7. As you can see from the image at the top of this article Microsoft has dropped Windows 7 ULTIMATE into the laps of its selected pool of partner testers. Windows 7 Ultimate is version 6.1 (Build 6519.1.x86fre.winmain.071220-1525). Windows 7 features support for multiple video cards from different manufacturers running simultaneously and comes with a new Windows Media Center. With Windows 7 M1 already available, Microsoft is now planning to drop M2 in April/May 2008 as well as M3 in the third quarter. At the same time the Beta, Release Candidates and RTM dates are yet to be set. However, Microsoft did indicate to its partners that it is looking to the second half of 2009 for the release to manufacturing of Windows 7. Windows 7 M1 ISO is 6519.1.071220-1525, and was served in both 32-bit and 64-bits flavors. The installation experience of the operating system is very similar to that of Windows Vista, offering various versions including Home Premium, Business and Ultimate. Windows 7 delivers support for Extended Firmware Interface (EFI). And as you can see from the start menu, the XPS Viewer is right there.

I hope all the pictures are real and not the magic of some photo editing tool . Screen shots seems pretty similar to those of Vista. So what you say about the next gen of Windows. Anyways, as far as I feel , I think I will be skipping vista and going directly to Windows 7. What about you ???

the side panel of the window (screenshot 4) has a diff aspect than windows vista although, shouldnt it then be the same in the welcome center?(screenshot 8) the welcome center has the green vista aurora-ish thingy when the window has a blue-ish aurora thingy

Proof that it's not real

By anon on 24.01.2008 - 22:01

By Luthian on 24.01.2008 - 22:01
i can confirm from my ms sources and what i have seen at ms myself that this is 100% real, even down to calling it windows 7 ultimate, which is exactly what the internal version i saw was called

it says: featuring a stripped down kernel and a redesigned graphical user interface

Windows 7 more smoke & Microsoft Mirrors!!

By cyteck on 24.01.2008 - 23:01
hello,
if what i have seen are genuine windows 7 screen shots of the interface, then i would say it looks absolutely no! different from windows vista ultimate. whats the big difference and why? would anyone need or want windows 7 apart from being yet more ego jewellery?? its typical microsft smoke & mirrors just change the name & tweak some of the features & functions and the daft ignorant punters will still shell out the £££ or $$$.

regards cyteck

a microsoft skeptic!!

Fairly good point

By EarthHealer on 24.01.2008 - 23:01
you make hell of alot of sence! im just saying i dont like faking!

Idiots

By anon on 24.01.2008 - 23:01
cyteck
this is the first build of this os, as in the first time they've ever compiled it, it doesn't even have the new gui in it yet, the optimisations, the streamlining, anything. at least wait until m3 or alpha 1.

Windows 7???

By beto666 on 25.01.2008 - 01:01
widows 7/vista!!! lol

STOP stealing others work and crediting it to yourselves

By spammer on 25.01.2008 - 01:01
you dont deserve the credit for this you are clearly trying to boost your sad little site by spamming this one with your links all over you are not the original source only link to original source that is thinknet and dont edit everything in photoshop so what its only screen, not iso.

re: everything

By on 25.01.2008 - 02:01
whats the big deal if it's a fake? nothing new except for hardly improved ui, and a new button that says "customize" on the taskbar...
big deal...
windows 7, when i see new stuff, i'll get interested.

nvrmnd last post

By on 25.01.2008 - 02:01
actually, nevermind (from the same poster)... probably the new stuff will come later. after all, longhorn first milestone was luna interface, nothing new.

M$ mistake

By mememe on 25.01.2008 - 02:01
i think microsoft have realised the mistakes they made with vista and windows 7 is being hurried so it can be released and get vista out the way into the hall of shame.

i doubt the screenshots here will be in the final product. this must just be something there using to work with.
vista has flopped and even if they did release a service pack now which made vista as good performance wise as xp theres way to much bad press.

Vista

By Billy The Kid on 25.01.2008 - 05:01
i think microsoft should've invested more time fixing vista than focusing so soon on a new operating system. this is their way of admiting that vista is a turkey. they should give this os away to make up for vista.

because

By Zero on 25.01.2008 - 08:01
because kez doesnt care as hes one of the largest warez and m$ news forums on the net thats why!

Yep Team effort!

ehmm, i don't understand why they make windows 7 so fast??? and whats going to be the different from vista and win7?

sorry

By Zero on 25.01.2008 - 09:01
sorry mrx we had nothing to do with ur post deletion!

Even More Smoke & Even More Mirors

By Cyteck on 25.01.2008 - 13:01
ok annon,

if windows 7 is a new os if it doesn't even have a gui yet then what an earth are the screen shots above please?? no! i seriously doubt there is anything radically new, nothing really innovative in windows 7. i remain extremely skeptical of the microsoft propaganda!!

Less speed to market more focus on quality of product

By Cyteck on 25.01.2008 - 13:01
hi lenti,

yes! i would totally agree with your comments but its not about software and more about rushing to make more money & more profits. the whole frenzied rush to push out yet another windows version is starting to look pretty bonkers to me. i wish microsoft took more time, developed better products & tested them more rigorously so the end result was quality software with fewer bugs & better device driver support across the it industry.

Windows 7

By Old Timer on 25.01.2008 - 17:01
it is actually true that microsoft is working on the next version of windows. there are many links on the web to prove this. check out paul thurrott's web site. this person is a respected columnist that communicates on a regular basis with microsoft. its unbelievable to look at all the people (probably children) making uninformed, negative comments here. i see windows 7 as a good thing, however i also believe that microsoft should bear the responsibility of fixing the inherent problems with vista. sp1 does not fix all the issues, and ultimately , at least to me is a major disappointment. i know this because i tested it and compared notes with other peers doing likewise. as a result i have upgraded back to windows xp professional. i will evaluate windows 7 with a grain of salt.
