Auslogics Registry Defrag is an extremely useful program to keep your registry as compact as possible. As a result of keeping the registry defragmented and as small as possible, your computer performance will be much improved.

System Optimization

Microsoft Windows and various program access the registry a few hundred times a second. By keeping your registry optimized you improve your computer performance.

Ease of Use

Registry Defrag is incredibly easy to use even for a novice user. The program provides stunning visual representation of the fragmented areas in your registry.

Detailed Reports

Upon defragmenting the registry on your computer, the program prepares an HTML report with comprehensive details about registry defragmentation process.

Auslogics

auslogics disk and registry defrag are 2 amazing programs. they are fast and improve alought without risking things.

Just like the others, but a nice UI

all registry defraggers work basically the same way - they use a feature built into windows that allows the registry hives to be exported to another set of files (the files are then renamed during the reboot process so the new files are loaded). the registry is basically like a virtual disk that dynamically grows as needed instead of being of fixed size. unfortunately, like all things windows, it's good at growing, not shrinking.
by writing the registry out to another file all the entries are contiguous and blank space is eliminated (just like copying the contents of a fragmented drive to an empty drive). this can be done by command line, but a gui makes it much more palatable. auslogics has a good thing going - their disk defragger uses windows built in defrag, but provides a gui for vista users that may not have or want another defragger.
as for perfectdisk - it and dirms are the two best defraggers available - they're the only two that work around ntfs journaling (as far as i know), and that's why they can pack all the files together (without gaps) and put all the free space together (without gaps)...without needing to do it on reboot (and also why they require less free space to do it). however, defragging the hive files and defragging the internal structure of the registry hives are two completely different processes - perfectdisk handles the files, not the internal structures (to my knowledge).
no reason to knock auslogics - they're giving away two great utilities. between file defragging (i'm a perfectdisk kinda guy), some registry cleanup (crapcleaner is my buddy), and a decent registry defragger (i use auslogics), maintenance is a breeze and definitely worth the time.

dg, i have to ask: which 99% of registry cleaners also have defrag? i'm not trying to flame you, but am i missing something?
