Windows Vista SP1 RC distributed through Windows Update will be applicable to Windows Vista machines that are running on any of the 36 languages supported by Vista RTM.
If you already installed the Service Pack to your machine by using the standalone package, you must uninstall before you scan Windows Update for Windows Vista SP1.
Systems running on Windows Vista RTM require as many as three updates before SP1 can be installed. These updates are permanent to your Windows Vista systems. Windows Update will detect your system configuration and offer the prerequisite packages that are applicable to your system.
On Vista RTM:
1. Download the command (.cmd.remove) script to your machine, rename it by removing deleting ".remove" at the end of the file name. Run the newly named script on an elevated prompt.
• To run the script on elevated prompt, after you download the script, right click on the file and select “Run as administrator” option.
• The script sets a registry key on your system. The registry key is required for WU server to recognize your machine as a valid target for Vista SP1.
• After running the script, Windows Update automatic updates would normally automatically update your machine each night for the next several days with the prerequisites and then offer the Service Pack. However if you would like to install SP1 quicker you can manually do the next few steps to speed up the process.
2. Install all pending “Important” updates and reboot. You may have to do this several times to get fully up to date.
• Check for updates on Windows Update. Go to Control Panel à System and Maintenance à Windows Update and check for updates by clicking on “Check for Updates” in the top left of the task pane.
• You will be offered all previously released Windows Vista updates that you may not have installed on your system. Install all applicable updates. If you have a clean install of RTM, there might be quite a few updates to install. You may need to do this a couple of times to get fully up to date. At some point Update for Windows (KB935509) will be in this list. This is the first pre-requisite install. Reboot your machine when prompted.
• If you see Ultimate Extras, you can hide them by right-clicking and hiding. Simply unchecking them will not let the remaining updates show up. Please install all of the remaining “important” updates.
• If you reboot and rescan right away, at times you may not see all updates right away. Wait 10 minutes and scan again.
To reduce the number of reboots required to install Windows Vista Service Pack 1, the prerequisite packages will be released to Windows Vista customers through WU prior to the release of Windows Vista Service Pack 1. These prerequisite packages will be coupled with other updates that are applicable to Windows Vista RTM systems and require a reboot. Consequently, the systems that are getting updates through automatic updates will already have prerequisites installed at the time of the SP1 release and be directly offered SP1 through WU.

does it effect the timerstop hack?
i install it. the service pack.
it did not kill any oem crack.for so far.
so
try it safetly. timestopper i did not use.
by the way. it is a new way from microsoft to instaal the pack. there are three stages on
the service pack.
my computer start again three times to instaal the three stages
from the sp.
at the end ms say -you now have sp1 installed-
thast is all.
quitte simple to use the links.
installed download reg.script to completion 20 mins.
did not kill oem paradox runs
much better and quicker than rc0

i installed it and have now 15 days left to activate. what to do now?

i installed it on my windows vista home basic which i used paradox to activate and it has
killed it ..15 days left to activate ! a solution mustt be somewhere !
ive just installed everything still work ok, no watermark finally
back in the beginning of november!!! this is service pack 1, v.658!!! and by the way does
anybody know how to remove the watermark for the x64 version that this sp1 produces?!!! i
know how to do this on the x 86 versions but that method does not work on the x64 version!
help me if you can.

i as expecting to c a watermark using vista ultimate x86, for some reason it never
installed a watermark
this is a month old! i downloaded it here from keznews from a web installer file that
phantom produced back in the beginning of november!!! this is service pack 1, v.658!!! and
by the way does anybody know how to remove the watermark for the x64 version that this sp1
produces?!!! i know how to do this on the x 86 versions but that method does not work on
the x64 version! help me if you can.

if i
uninstall it what can be happen?
i have vista 64 and loader crack and no other betas installed and update work fine. i
have used vista much before so i don't know how improved it is.
installed the sp1 from the ms site and my legit vista business now runs a dam site better
than ot ever has! the copy speed issue appears sorted, there is a feeling of slickness now
when moving around the screen etc... heck this is what should have been in place during
the initial release!
is this the same rc v668 that was released some days ago
it doesn't kill vista loader. also, it runs much better.
installed on a legit...ish version of ultimate 32bit no expiry date with winver.......
i'll try it on 64 bit later and let you know....... mind you... not seen any great
improvements !!!!

how do u remove watermark in 64bit version?
james i hade the same problem with the sp1 v.658 x64 but now i have v.668 x64 witch is
the new sp1 and it does not have a problem with the watermark! well at least it has not
shown up on mine yet. and it seems that the watermark remover dose not work on x64 as it
does on x86 don’t kwon why? i’ve tried, but still had the watermark on my x64 version pc
but not on my x86 pc but like i said try this new sp1 and see if it takes away the
watermark.
p.s. don’t forget to uninstall the old version of sp1 first!

installed and don't kill my paradox crack....
hey second time sp installed (tried also the previous release), and both times i got the
control panel icons disappeared.
also right button on desktop has no effect.
forgot to mention; i have vista home+ 64bit, and the bios stuff still works.

vista sp1 rc1 v668 dont contain the new killer update for mod bios slic...but only the
final version... i wait the bad surprise :(
watermark will show after restart
according to microsoft "windows vista sp1 release candidate is time-limited software.
it will no longer operate after june 30, 2008"
this means that that sp1 does not
necessarily kill paradox or any other crack but is itself a time limiting update. so
typing winver in run box merely shows you the time limiting feature of this update till
the full version of sp1 is released.
hey, james this is james, your right after i came home from work i started up my pc and
what do you know, you guessed it watermark and expo.date! july 1, 2008 :-( do you know or
does anybody else know how to get rid of the watermark on x64 i know how on x86 but the
method does not work for x64
tried the install and can confirm that oem bootmgr activation hack no longer function! 15
days to activate...
well maverik_2001 if you want to remove the sp1 you really don´t need the command
"(.cmd.remove) script! all you have to do is right click on your computer icon on your
desktop and choose properties, then click on windows update, then click on installed
updates, now look for the installed update that says (service pack for microsoft windows
(kb936330) double click on it to remove sp1! it will uninstall and return your pc back the
way it was before you installed sp1. that is what i did when i wanted to uninstall all the
betas that i tried before the sp1 v.668. good luck! :-)
time limit maybe also be active, btw i reinstall os at least 3-4 times a year so who
cares...

installed yesterday the rc sp1 x 64, no aero, control panel only accessible from my
computer, many shortcuts dont work, did not experience any visible enhancement, time
stopper still worked, uninstalling the rc sp1 now as the aero is gone
also coming with sp1 but not in the current release candidate, we will also be including
updates that deal with two exploits we have seen, which can affect system stability for
our customers.
• the oem bios exploit, which involves modifying system files and the
bios of the motherboard to mimic a type of product activation performed on copies of
windows that are pre-installed by oems in the factory.
• the grace timer exploit,
which attempts to reset the “grace time” limit between installation and activation to
something like the year 2099 in some cases.

i did a system restore after getting the 15 days to activate. now im fully activated
again
can anybody tell me where the crack which doesn't get killed is?

after i installed sp1 rc i was using windows media player to listening to the internet
radio. when i wanted to turn it off i notice that windows media player freezes, and that
it freezes my pc as well! the only way i was able to use my pc again was to use ctrl, alt,
delete to bring up task manager to use the turn off button to turn off my pc. i use media
player all the time to listen to the internet radio because i live i sweden now and
swedish radio svcks!!! all they do is talk, talk, talk, they talk over the first 30sec of
the song and the last minute of the song, or they play a kickass song then cut it off
30sec before the hour which they have the news on the hour every hour! but anyways, this
only happened after i installed sp1 rc so i was curious if this has happened to anyone
ells?
paradox oem bios crack has been...well...cracked. installed sp1 on 2 vista ultimate
machines using the asus emulated bios and they now have 15 days to activate. my machines
were due for a fresh install anyway, so i'm not fussed really. but i would like to know
some more info from the guys that have installed sp1 on a mcahine using the paradox crack,
which oem emulator have you used and which key was it that you used?

i installed vista sp1 to find out my pc was slower and that windows media player didn’t
work well with internet radio!! it freezes and it freezes my pc as well so i say to hell
with vista sp1 and i uninstalled it and now my pc is back to normal and running like a
champ. it seems that vista runs better without this sp1 so why both with it
anymore!!!!!!!!!!!! to hell with sp1 vist i say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hello james; i also had many issues after sp1. no speed problems but different kind of
issues. i read on a local forum that even if sp1 is multilanguage, it is calibrated for us
installations. that's where problems may arise.
regarding speed, with sp1 installed
the copy operation from an hd to another is much much faster than without sp1 (even if not
comparable to xp). and overall speed of the system was sligtly better than without.
i was forced to remove it, anyway let's wait until the final sp comes out.

control panel and wellcome centre at least thats what happened a pc i helped fix, went
into safe mode all was available there uninstalled sp1 this time paradox worked it didt
even previous to one click,if i run the sp1 again will it kill paradox i do not believe
they can do this because of all the legit oem pcs.
