Hack Available to Download Windows XP SP3 RC from Microsoft
section: windows, for your questions: KezNews forum, 22.11.2007
Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversThat's right! Now you can get your hands on the first Release Candidate for Windows XP Service Pack 3! And all it will take is the implementation of a simple registry hack designed to allow Windows XP users to access, download and install Service Pack 3 Release Candidate straight from Microsoft.
You are not one of the 15,000 testers that have been so far permitted access to the RC build? No problem. And on top of that, there is no need to wait for a public version of one of the upcoming development milestones of XP SP3. If you really can't wait to get your hands on XP SP3 RC, then all you have to do is play around with the registry a tad.
The fact of the matter is that a registry hack to access a testing build of Windows Vista SP1 debuted in mid October. Modifying the registry allowed Windows Vista users to grab the Beta of Service Pack 1 straight from the Microsoft Windows Updates servers. The same is now the case for Windows XP. In order to understand what the hack is, you have to know that as of now, Windows XP SP3 RC is available exclusively to over 15,000 testers via Microsoft Connect. The Redmond company is delivering all members of the beta testing program of XP SP3 with a script set up to introduce a registry key, that subsequently permits access to the Release Candidate of XP SP3, according to Daniel Melanchthon, Technology Advisor for Microsoft Germany.
Well, the hack is nothing more, and nothing less than this script coming from Microsoft. Of course all participants in the beta testing process of Windows XP SP3 are under a strict non-disclosure agreement with Microsoft. But there are leaks, of course. You will be able to find the hack in question on WinFuture. Don't worry if you cannot speak German, it's not relevant in the least. Just copy the code that starts with "@echo off" into a text editor, Notepad will do fine. It doesn't matter the name under which you save it, but what does matter is the extension. Save As "WinXPSP3RC.cmd" for example, but pay attention to the .CMD, and in notepad select the All Files option and not .TXT. Apply the hack; it may require a restart, and then just check for Updates. You will be able to find Windows XP Build 2600.xpsp.071030-1537: Service Pack 3, v.3244 weighing in at some 337 MB – namely the Release Candidate for XP SP3.

i can confirm the hack is working.
so the hack is working. how about the sp? is there any substantial gain in installing it,
or will it make shit worse? im havin performance issues such as very long boot times,
takes about 1min to finish booting to where i can actually use my pc, and games are
running like little bunny turds. should i get the sp or what?
i got it to bring up the xp sp3 on the updates, but its only bringing in 70mb not 337mb?
i will post my opinion when i get it installed!
i got it installed.. i only installed to see if the permanent genuine crack would hold
up, and sure shit it did!
has anyone using windows in other languages been able to use this ? im trying and i
cannot see the darn thing
windowsxp-kb936929-sp3-x86-enu.exe
u'll fin dit easy on the web as xp sp3 rc1 build
3244.
doesnt work for x64 i guess
64bit is not xp core based, it's based on server 2003, so no it won't work with x64.
yes.
i'm using it..
download that with torrent......
so easy..
after that instal and that's it
:)
so far.... good
go to :
www.mininova.org
and use whatever bit torrent...
that's it
:)
the only reason it comes up as 70 mb's means that you have all the updates installed,
therefore their is no need for the other 200 mb's, u already have it installed.

i am waiting for user comments to make decision--may want to wait for bugs to be worked
out
first, i made a miror copy of my hard drive, then installed sp3...it seemed to take a
while, but after reboot, everything seems to be working ok....
if most xp users did thier homework. they woould find the important reason to go to vista
and the only reason because vista does blo. windows xp does not support dual core cpu's.
xp supports dual cpu's(as in 2 singlecore cpu's) on a board but not dual core, triple
core or quad core. xp wasnt designed to support these. this also goes with the 64 bit
version of xp. with xp sp2 the problem still exist but basically the features are turned
off so the multicore cpu's will run right on xp. to fix this problem, microsoft would
have to totally re-write windows xp. this is why we now have vista. vista is a fix for
this problem until windows 7 comes out in 2 years. dont you find it odd that it took from
2001 to 2007 to make vista yet windows 7 is out in 2 years? now the kicker. all you people
running your high output cpu's on xp are wasting your money. you are not getting the
performance out of your cpu with xp. you cant. as for this patch and the one from
amd--read...http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/896256
these turn off
certain features of the cpu to make it run stable on xp. so it doesnt matter how many
service packs microsoft makes for xp. if your not running a single core cpu on xp then its
all a waste of money to you. on the 8th day vista was born. it may blo but now you can run
your hardware the way it was meant to. if you wan performance out of vista, download vista
lite and make your own copy of vista. for the skeptics that are going to fire back at me
for this. fire away. take some time and go read. this has always been out there. i beta
tested windows xp 64bit sp2 through connect.. i confronted microsoft about this and i will
post the reply if need be.

description
while extracting large
files with winrar 3.61 windows will crash and reboot.
as with window xp pro, home,
sp1 and sp2 32bit editions having to use the amd optimizer, amd driver and the hotfix
(throttle) entry in the registry to enable the hotfix. from what i understand windows
wasnt designed for the dual core processor so these need to be installed for the amd x2,s
to work properly.
the question is? do these also need to be installed in the all the
64 bit versions running the x2 cpu,s? if so, what about the sp2 of 64bit windows 64 bit?
has something been changed to not need these?

this is a major problem for the amd x2 dual core cpu users and
this is a legitmate bug that isnt going to be addressed. this is a 64 bit os and the dual
core is a 64 bit high demand cpu that people are buying to use with this os. as for this
to be "closed" and a comment ("wont fix") without some sort or legit reason blows my
mind. people that use this os as it is meant to (working it hard) will continuously have
this problem. it should be stated that this os is only meant for single core cpu's and
not lead the consumer to believe differently as i was at and expense of the cpu and the
os, $1000.00

please list the exact
steps we need to follow to make this problem happen.
extract large files useing
winrar 3.61 (4gig- files or larger) windows will crash and reboot after around 3 minutes
of extracting file.
next i extracted the same file, during extraction i went to task
manager, processes, clicked on the winrar process and change the affinity to use one cpu,
cpu0 and file was extracted copletely without problems.
if your results were
unexpected, what did you exect to happen?
yes i expected to see this happen as i did
with previous builds. they arent much mention about amd x2 cpu,s and previous driver
issues with compatibility or if design changes have been made to make x2 cpu,s to work as
they were meant to without any special hotfixes, drivers or optimizing software.
i
believe this problem doesnt happen with windows xp pro 32bit with a 64 bit x2 cpu because
the x2 or the 64bit architecture isnt being by the os (running in 32bit). it uses the x2
as just one cpu even though it will read it as two cpus. the os wasnt designed for it and
the hotfix, opimizer and driver is just a workaround to except and make the x2 cpu stable
and still not use the architecture of the x2.
i waited for a new beta release to see
if this was going to happen again with a different rc or refresh.
what build are you
running?
rc (build 2825)
this installation was?
a slipstream clean install
what version of windows
microsoft did not want to touch this.
thier answer was quick and straight to
the point. they wont fix it.
and this is why i still use windows 3.1. does what i need :d
been running it for 3 days...computer is working about 25% fater, including the
internet.....can't believe it....
im running a cracked version of xp. would this hack can still work?
thanks
wat is the version of directx of this sp3?
i got sp3 running on one machine, then applied the hack to my other two. but it has been
a few days now and no auto update to sp3. has redmond gotten wise and made it so the hack
no longer works?
i slipstreamed sp3 into my windows cd with nlite, all works very well
when i
try to install it, it wont accept my serial number, say it is invalid !!!
the
serial works well under sp2
what will these guys think of next....just like i said, microsh't - 0 vs crackers -
120000 cracks! hehehehe!
peace \/
its old but here is a neat app. for he above said hack -
