Are You Ready for Windows Live Messenger 9.0 Beta?

section: microsoft, for your questions: KezNews forum, 22.11.2007

Are you ready for Windows Live Messenger 9.0 Beta? Windows Live messenger 8.5 is barely out the door, but the question is not without a solid foundation.

Microsoft hardly spent any time lingering on the success of version 8.5 of its instant messaging client and is already moving forward with the development of Windows Live Messenger 9.0. With Microsoft gagging all details about the upcoming version of its instant messaging client, details are scarce about the direction the development process of Windows Live Messenger 9.0 will take.

But just the fact that the Redmond company has already debuted the beta testing of the instant messaging client is illustrative of the commitment to the world's largest IM community, numbering almost 300 million users. At the same time, the initial testing of Windows Live Messenger 9.0 is a private process, accessible exclusively by invitation.

"We've been hard at work building the foundation for Windows Live Messenger 9.0, we'd like to give you a look at what we've built and ask what you think. We're running a small private beta to get early feedback on the new features we've built and get wider test coverage of the build", reads a fragment of the email sent to the Windows Live Messenger 9.0 beta testers, as cited by mess.be.

Windows Live Messenger 8.5 was released at the beginning of November, and it is the finalization of a project initially introduced in public beta in May, and tailored on Windows Vista's Aero graphical user interface. For the time being, Softpedia is not able to offer you the Beta of Windows Live Messenger 9.0, and in this context you will have to settle for the next best thing – Windows Live Messenger 8.5.

"As a beta tester you'll have access to an early 9.0 build, a private newsgroup just for Windows Live Messenger beta testers, and the ability to send bugs directly to the product team. The build you'll be beta testing with is a very early build, so it may be less stable than beta builds you've tried in the past.
