Suggestions For Future Versions of Windows

section: windows, for your questions: KezNews forum, 11.11.2007

The Windows Early Feedback program was created by Microsoft as a means of rounding up suggestions and feedback that may be considered for implementation in future iterations of the Windows operating system.

The team in charge of the program has collected and released a list of (what they consider to be) the top 61 suggestions to be presented to the development team of Windows 7.

The ideas being presented to the team range from basic usability improvements, such as a download manager in Internet Explorer, to more far fetched ideas, such as the ability to back up Xbox 360 games to a PC (good luck with that one). Some of the top suggestions are even features that were promised for and then dropped from Vista, such as a completely vectorized graphical user interface.

Check out the list by clicking the link below and let us know if anything catches your eye. Think you have a better idea? Let's hear it!

By Jorge on 12.11.2007 - 01:11
please!....

Slim!

By Yoni on 12.11.2007 - 03:11
well, the first thing everyone will recommend is to code an os that works. they need to slim vista or whatever they name their next os. we don't really need a bloated, shiny and resources hungry os. please note that slax (linux ditro) is a 180mb portable os that allows anyone to do as much as vista does and it is absolutely fee!.

yes, an os not limited by riaa, no more 8gb ram needed to at least boot, a nvidia or ati full quadriplex multi 256 krypton bi-piped with quartz ddr80 80gb memory video card, a octa-multi-quad-triad core 80-thz processor. the m$ family think that everybody is shitting gold, so every time they start selling os's they think everybody is going to burn their computer and buy one as described. the only good thing about vista is the packaging of the dvd... i hope windows 7 to be better than xp, not another step back, or a windows 7..6...5..4..3..2..1.....boom.

command line interface only

By James on 12.11.2007 - 05:11
most casual computer users probably don't even know what vista is.

re-write windows from csrach

By lev on 12.11.2007 - 08:11
re-write windows from scratch, slim and fast. make it even a linux distro with windows gui. no registry, no intallation of software, just portable.

NEW Windows

By Jon on 12.11.2007 - 14:11
wow i like what i'm hearing here guys! i find windows vista very slow compared to xp. my pc is not wanting, dual 3.4 ghz xeons, 4 gb ddr2 ram, and it crawls by when compared to xp performance. windows has gotten fat.

new functions

By mr.nobody on 12.11.2007 - 21:11
* pause for io operations (copy, move)

* api for central backup. programs can tell windows where and what to backup. windows backup (or other backup programs) can then backup the settings for all of the programs and, if you want, all files wich are created with this program, eg word - doc-files and excel - xls-files etc.

Preposterous

By Nick on 12.11.2007 - 21:11
redirection- m$ doesn't care about anything but proprietary software, monopolizing market share, and control.

making you think your opinion makes a difference is a con game.

ever-increasing demands for system resources sells pcs.

New windows

you're onto something-how about w98(or xp now that it has been made usable), dual core, plenty of ram, spyware, antivirus, firewall w/good port blocking, works, fax capability, image modifier, dvd-+rw...?
gamers might need supercomputers, but for just for just researching and outputting, a 10 year old desktop with ram upgrade will do, if a bit slow.

something

New version of Windows

By JFDisney on 14.11.2007 - 21:11
speaking of a new os, the other night i was watching tv and saw the mac commmercial with the two guys representing each os. the pc person stated that he had vista loaded and then put windows xp back on. so much better. how funny is that. i hope that microsoft does a better job with the next os.
