Enable Aurora Bootscreen in Windows Vista
section: windows, for your questions: KezNews forum, 3.11.2007
The original Vista Bootscreen is very similar to Windows 2000, and is very bland and boring (you know, with the little catepillar bar scrolling from left-to-right).
But did you know that Vista comes with a much better highly visual bootscreen? Did you know how easy it is to enable it? No?
Microsoft may not have enabled this by default because of potential hardware issues, but that doesn't make sense because the minimum video card requirements to even run Vista should handle the new bootscreen without any problem. In either case, here is how to make Vista look that much cooler with the "Aurora" bootscreen...
1. First start by running msconfig (either from the Run dialog or Start menu search box).
2. Click on the Boot tab, and then click the "No GUI boot" checkbox. Click OK.

slows down the startup of vista. no point and plus this is old news. barely see the boot
screen anyway, just 2-5 seconds of it.
the no-gui boot screen has been updated with vista sp1, it now looks even cooler :d
yeah i'm pretty sure this slows down the start up of vista.
being no longer a
vista user someone else will have to confirm this.
tried this some time ago. i understand why ms disabled this - its boring.
they never finished it, that's why.
done it thought i was crap and it does slow your system down on boot-up (well mine
anyway)...... hope sp1 has a good one??? when ever it is released hopefully before i'm
drawing me pension!!!! lol.......
yeah, i think this was something they were working on in the earlier betas and eventually
dropped. it definately seems unfinished, but then so does the official boot screen. i
couldn't believe when it hit final and it was still just a stupid black screen and
progress bar. even windows me had a nicer boot screen.
this is sooooo old...
