The Wait Is Over: Ubuntu 7.10 Is Here
section: download, for your questions: KezNews forum, 18.10.2007
Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversAs promised, Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) was released a few minutes ago, and it's my deepest pleasure to introduce you guys to the new features to be found in this version of Ubuntu (which is based on the GNOME desktop environment) and also to the features from Kubuntu (same as Ubuntu, but based on the popular KDE desktop environment).
I have to admit that I prefer Kubuntu over Ubuntu because it's based on KDE (K Desktop Environment) and I am a sucker for KDE. But I like to install Ubuntu first and then the Kubuntu desktop; having them both is much better. Well, truth is I am quite impressed by the way Ubuntu is evolving. I should warn you though that Ubuntu may be addictive!
In this new version of the Ubuntu/Kubuntu operating system, you will find (as always) amazing new stuff, a lot of system improvements and surprises. Are you ready to take the plunge? Well, here they are:
The latest and greatest GNOME 2.20 which contains many new features and improvements.
Amazing desktop 3D effects, that will be activated by default, immediately after you install the video drivers for your graphics card.
Ha! No more Beagle stress! There's a new sheriff (to be read Desktop search) in town, and it's called Tracker. It allows quick access to your common actions, including opening web bookmarks and searches, sending messages to your contacts, and more. Tracker makes your life easier, as it provides faster search for your documents, music, videos, photos, chat logs, and many other files.
In conclusion, expect a LOT of new features and changes from this new version of Ubuntu, expect improved NTFS writing to be enabled by default, power consumption to be very kind with your laptop (more battery life and burn-free laps), encrypted hard disks and AppArmor security framework, the new kernel technology that limits the resources an application is allowed to access.

the only problem i have with linux ubuntu and the rest it, its made for hackers. u need
to know commands to even play mp3.
god, why cant they make things work these days?
obviously you didn't even read the article. ubuntu and kubuntu are made with gnome and
kde installed. those are desktop environments, graphics user interfaces, aka "lol i
clicked something!" stupidity welcome signs. in fact, most linux distributions come with
a desktop environment on the cd, if not preinstalled. i know several that have multiple
des on the cd so you can even choose how you want it to look. you don't need to know
command line to use linux that has a desktop environment installed, although it helps make
commands faster. it also helps to know dos commands in windows to run some things faster,
but i'm sure you never thought about that friend did ya?
the removable drive and filesystem support is so good now. for someone who does not want
to look a gift horse in the mouth and judge on that, then this is a nice release to date
and shows much potential for ubuntu towards future development.
hey swandike, get a
refund if your unhappy, lol. mp3 is not a free codec! but you can still install it if you
want it.
congrats, you just typed up one of the stupidest comments on the planet.
if
you want to play mp3's that bad, download the vlc player package.
kubuntu 7.10 is the real thing.

calm down you little faggot, if you don't even know how linux works, you shouldn't even
be using it.
i am guessing your one of those little bedroom dwellers that
spends too much time hating people and playing 3d cock rubbing games.
unlike
you i do know how linux works and i have been using it since its early days, you have
probably only used windows which explains your faggotry.
ps: i think i'll put
an article about you on encyclopedia dramatica.

linux desktop is much easier in many ways that one in windows . its just different and it
takes little tine to get used to it . download live cd and give it a try . worst thing
that can happen is that you will not like it and loose one cd .best thing you may be able
to use 2 operating systems without breaking a sweat
if u can see some one i'nt in the know why slag him. do you get kicks out of it im a
noob to os spent to much time trying to mees with xp but i know people that our willing to
help me and teach me.

yeah swandike if u need to enter a command to play a mp3 then you're not on ubuntu ;)

i admit to all things linux so just tell me when pc games work with a new version. sorry

me fine.

using windowshit against my will :(
that was meant to read - i admit to being ignorant to all things linux.

swandike, if you'll really try nux, you'll don't say that. all works fine. i use
opensuse...and i can't go back on windows o.s. :) and i think if you'll see my 3d
